I went to pick up the mare and filly i bought a few weeks ago( she was getting bred back is reason for delay). I picked them up Wednesday. The lady had to pour feed in a pen and then corner the mare to catch her. I thought oh well no big deal. I put my halter on her and go to load them in my trailer. She steps right up in my trailer, baby follows. no problems so far. I get them home unload them in the lot and the mare stuck her head down and went to grazing like she had been there all her life. I left them alone for a couple of hours, after all, we had just been on the road a couple of hours. I went out later and just walked in the lot and watched them both for awhile and the mare got curious and came over to me. Next thing i know i am rubbing her and petting her all over. In this Arkansas weather, she was Yucky Sticky grimey, yucky, so i thought, tomorrow your getting a bath like it or not. Next morning i go out to feed, and she meets me at the gate and nickers. I get her out later when it warms up and gave her a bath. She enjoyed it sooooo much. I dont think she moved a muscle. I trimmed her bridle path and trimmed her much over grown feet. Sprayed her with fly spray and then put her back in the pasture. NOW i cannot go outside without this mare wanting me to come over and give her a rub or pet her. She is So funny. She is Soooooo quiet and Gentle. I cannot beleive i have had her home 3 days and she is like this when 3 days ago she could not be caught. The Filly? Well I can rub her all over except for her head and she  is still a little touchy with it, but i figure in a few days i will get that done as well. I hope to have her accepting a halter by next weekend. The Filly is 2 months old and has not been handled till now so i think she has come along way in 3 days....i will get some pictures posted in a few days of both of them.

Ok i have had the mare (Skip) and the filly (Sassy) for a little over 2 weeks now. The filly is now wearing a halter, yeilding her forequarters, yeilding her hindquarters, LOVES to be brushed all over, and will lead.  NEXT LESSONS is teach her to pick her feet up.  Yes i know i have not took pictures yet, I have got to do that, cause i would like to get her papers sent off soon.  I plan on naming her Skipping Sassy as her dams name is Skippers Dancing Doc.

Thats great!  Some times horses just need that confident handler to really "blossom".  I started playing around with Fran last night with leading.  She wasn't too impressed at first, but I think she caught on.  I am not pushing her on anything, she is smart and willing enough that I think she will catch on pretty fast!  She will let you pick her feet up, and is getting her feet trimmed Tuesday!

I like the name you have picked out for Sassy!  We have a Sassy also, and her name fits her perfect!!!!!!

Great deal with the new additions fitting in so well.

I had a Sassy too.  Its a kitty.  Only problem is Sassy is a sissy name for a kitty that turned out to be a boy.  Opps.  Now its Sam or stripe cat.
