Nic,

There's a double registered (don't ask me how) AQHA/APHA stud at the ranch that has the stud that I *dream* of breeding my mare to.  He's Sun Frost bred too.  Check out their site -- http://www.huntranch.com/

There are 2 Hunt brother in South Dakota, Gene Hunt is the daddy and he is the breeder of my roan stud.  He keeps horses at both ranchs but the paint hunt is I think at the one that brands with a heart and mine was from the open rafter box or something like that.  Oh well they all use horses bred like mine.  Hope to make a big name for him some day.

when I was younger I would bounce, now I just splat

Val if you know of any paint studs let me know!

HorseHappys Junior has the breeding and is young enough.  He still has some growing to do and will be a big stout one when he is done filling out.  Right now he could be a breeding bargain.  The other paints that I know about are kind of minimal white so color could be a big problem since I think the paints are cracking down on the solid horses.  Horse Happy would know more about that.  About 10 years ago I had a sorrel quarter mare here that had nothing but crop out paints no matter what we bred her too, gave up and sold her to a paint breeder and they shipped her to Germany.

Very nice!  I e-mailed the lady who had/has her to find out about the stallion!  From the sounds of the ad he is a paint, and look at all the color he threw on that filly!  Sun Frost breeding on top of that!

Val- I have been seriously looking at horsehappy's stud.  Just kinda wanna get a feel for what else is out there-ya know!  I was telling hubby last night that I wish I had about 2 more paint mares to breed, I have found some nice QH studs (yes yours included!)!!

I am glad that you like Junior. Just take your time and do your homework. There are allot of really nice studs to choose from. Find the one YOU like and the one YOU think will cross best on your mare. Junior is my boy and I love him dearly. I would love for you to meet him but do not feel like you have let me or him down if you decide you like some one else. I want you to get the best baby you can out of the best stud that you can. Of course if you DO pick Junior that is fine with me. [grin]

You really need to search in the Dakota's, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming area for the working/run cross paints they are out there some will do shipped and some will not.  Those ranchers are just not into some of that stuff.   Just keep looking, last time I bred to an outside stud I looked all summer and winter to find one.  By the way I know of several Paint Thoroughbreds that you might want to consider but I don't know for sure if they even offer shipped they might because they breed a lot of warmbloods.

How are TB for barrel racing?  All the paint/TB I have seen have a nice stud fee to go along with them!  I'm not wanting to spend too much more than $700.  Thanks for the tips Val, I have a feeling I'm going to be searching awhile![grin]

1wildcowgirl, here's another one you might like, I'd forgot all about him: http://www.paintedforperformance.com/matt.html

Life ain't about how fast you run, or how high you climb, but how well you bounce.
