I'm looking to breed my Pacific Bailey mare next year.  Anyone know of a good paint cross for her?

Right now I REALLY like Horsehappy's stud and I have also found Cherokee Treasured.  Thanks!

Wow, Cherokee Treasure is a real nice stud. I have seen one of his babies up close and he was sooo good looking. He was a tad hot but was just oozing with potential.

Now, on a personal note. Your choices are Junior and Cherokee Treasure? Juniors competition is Cherokee Treasure? Too Cool! [grin] That is some very good company to be in.
can ya feel my 'pride vibes' through the computer screen?[smile]

Horsehappy- this picking out studs is a hard task!  Hubby likes Cherokee Treasured, I'm not all that sure about him, I like him but do I really like him for 775???  If his babies tend to be hot then he is not for my mare.  But yes I like Jr just as much maybe alittle more than him.  Granted Cherokee Treasure has more of a "rap sheet", but a stud can have a rap sheet a mile long and not have what it takes to make good babies!  Of course this is just my opinion!!!!!

Your doing good so far. I like your way of thinking. (hehe [wink])
I understand completely about finding them. I hauled Juniors mommas butt all the way to S.C. to get him. I think so far the trip was worth it.[grin]

We went all the way to Kansas to get my hubby's Smooth-N-Easy bred mare.  Fun trip!  We were having a hard time finding what we wanted around here so we packed up and headed West!  I don't know what it's like in your area but there is not allot of "speed" bred paints in ours.  I wanna try and bring a few more into our neck of the woods!  I just wish I had a paint broodmare!! (looking into space dreaming)[smile]

Funny, that is what I am trying to do too.[grin]
Nope not alot of color that runs around here either. It is getting better though. I will warn you ahead of time. If you ever got to a paint show, the speed classes are almost painful to watch.[rolleyes]

Funny you should say that!  We are planning on going to a couple paint shows this year!  Just to have fun, donate our money (like we do at other barrel races), and to build our confidence!  My friend that is wanting to go with me, we are both just getting into barrel racing and it's scary to us to go to a big barrel race where everyone seems so confident.  We need to kick some butt where there is no-one there and then maybe we will feel better about the big races!

Take enough to make a class and you may get points. Last one I went to had about five in it and most of them were pleasure riders that were either helping out a friend or just doing it for fun. I think there was one horse that actually got close enough to the barrel that it looked like they knew what they were doing.

I've talked to a pleasure rider that does the all a round here and she told me the same thing!  You will probably think I'm crazy but my friend and I really want to go to the APHA world next year!  We think it would be alot of fun even if we are not good enough to place!  I need to start working my horse and getting him ready though!  Hey maybe you and Jr could come too!!![bounce]

Nicole,

I need to get you in touch with an old friend of mine (he was actually the guy who got me interested and started in barrel racing!) ... his name is Eric Maxel, and he lives over in Brookville.  (His sister and brother in law own Circle G Arena.)  A couple years back he had a paint he took to the APHA world and won Poles with.  Pretty cool!  We'll hafta get together some weekend that Circle G has a speed show going on and go up just to watch... he's always walking around in there.

I am not sure if Junior would be ready for such a trip next year but that is really what I would like to do with him in time. I WANT to go to paint world!!!
No change that... I WILL go to paint world  someday.[grin]
