Title: Promise not to laugh at me.... Post by: turninburninbuddy on July 25, 2006, 11:57:26 AM Okay I admitt I know very little about breeding horses. But the mare that lives across the drive way is driving me nuts. About 2 weeks ago I went out to go to work or take rob to work or something and all 3 of the neighbors horses were running around my yard. No biggy we herded them back. Now starting yesterday, the mare next door has been weeeheeeheeing every 5 minutes all day and most of the night. She has worn all the grass off the corner of the pasture. tried to go through the fence over and over. Generally being crazed. She is pastured with 2 geldings.
Last nite I had buddy tied to the tie thing out front. He untied himself and made a lil visit over the fence archin his neck tail strait up all bad ass. she bout lost it right there. I walked over to him with an apple and seeings as how he is gelded his stomach won over the mare and he followed me across the driveway. This evening I walked over there just to see if she was stuck or thirsty just what could possibly be making her act like such an idiot. It was like I was invisiable she was completely zoomed in on Buddy innocently eating hay a good 40 yards away. Is there anything I can do to shut her up? The neighobors are really good ol boy types that are not going to do anything if they are even home? Can u believe a gelding would have that much appeal to mares? He is always turnin heads. At the parade this guy started by on his appy mare and she locked it up in front of me lifted the tail and stuck her butt in his face. Of course he obloged her with a neck stretch and lil weehee before I put a stop to that crap right there. I rode away.... Title: Re: Promise not to laugh at me.... Post by: 1Wildcowgirl on July 25, 2006, 04:58:39 PM Sounds like she is in heat! Nothing you can do till she goes outta heat, then she will be back to her bitchy self!
Scout is a ladies man himself. It's annoying. :bash: Title: Re: Promise not to laugh at me.... Post by: Ramsey on July 25, 2006, 06:43:58 PM I've heard that if you rub Vic's vapor-rub (a lil) in a stud's nostrils that it helps them from smellin all the fine mares out there.... I wonder if it would help the mare? Val? Any opinions on this? Maybe you could sneak over there and put a couple swipes in her nostrils??

Post by: turninburninbuddy on July 25, 2006, 07:17:00 PM Got back from taking rob at 6 am 605 weeeeeheeeee 608 weeeeeheee 612 weeeeeheeee 615 weeeeheeee I swear I am going to KILL THAT HORSE. Buddy is over the hill outa her sight paying no attention. He has been here since like April did she just figure it out? Or was she holding out for a real man and decided the spotted butt would have to do?

Title: Re: Promise not to laugh at me.... Post by: valerie on July 26, 2006, 12:05:00 AM She needs to go out of heat or she may always be this way. She may just want a friend
Title: Re: Promise not to laugh at me.... Post by: turninburninbuddy on July 27, 2006, 12:01:43 AM She is better today. That is a relief. I was worried she was gonna impail herself on the damn fence. I hardly ever see the owners. They don't ride or even own saddles. Th lady delivers mail and the guy I am not sure what he does. I drove down there one time and let me tell you wow. I am not a snob at all my best friend has ever water heater she has ever owned in her yard somewhere. But my neighbors place is way scarey. The front door opens into nothing its a 6 to 8 foot drop to the ground. I think the place was a manufactured house but I hontestly cannot tell. The barn and shop are in way better shape then what they live in. Which would make since to me the horses usually do live better then the owner.
Val she has 2 other horses and a goat out there with her. Is that not enough company? Title: Re: Promise not to laugh at me.... Post by: valerie on July 27, 2006, 08:13:45 AM Just a mare thing and you are going to have to live with it. Ain't life grand? :dontknow:

Title: Re: Promise not to laugh at me.... Post by: turninburninbuddy on July 28, 2006, 12:00:52 PM Ok u see the last pic posted Buddy grazing in the front yard. You can see the field threw the trees.....If she had been still weeeheeing she would of been standing right there. That is how close to the house the wee heeing was. With windows open I truely wanted to loose it. And u all say sweet lil geldings are pills...
