Nope, the 9/10ths possession thing doesn't work apparently. The sheriff handling the case has told me we can try hiring a lawyer to fight giving Dallas back but that we probably won't have any luck. Hell the past couple of weekends we've had to deal with them driving up and down our road & stopping in front of our house and one day the woman involved riding one of her other horses up and down our property line screaming for Dallas to come to her. She hauled ass up the road when big George came flying out the door. I called the law and was told that it's a public road so I can't do anything. Well we're the last house on a dead end road, IMO they have NO business on it! Tried to get a restraining order but because no physical threat has been made we can't get one.
I decided that if they could play dirty I could to so I tried getting the guy in charge of large animals at animal control to go over to their place. I did the research, the rule is 1 acre of land for the first horse & a half acre for each additional horse. They have 3 horses in a ROUND PEN, that's where these horses have lived for at least 2 or 3 years, almost knee deep in old horse poop because it's NEVER been cleaned out. The round bales they feed are years old, moldy and disgusting, not fit to be fed to any animal. Even though he assured me he would not be influenced by the fact that they are friends with the head sheriff (their next door neighbor) I guess that wasn't true because now he won't even look at me & is never available to talk to me.
I'm just tired of it, George is tired of it and he really does not need the stress. We've proved that Cathy is not a thief (she was accused of stealing a tractor, weedeater, chain saw, 10 mens shirts, jewelry, electrical equipment, etc.) and we've proved their other much worse claim against her was false as well thank God. I would like to think they are investigating the woman over that charge but I'm not going to hold my breath. As much as we've sunk into Dallas & as good of a horse he is we've just about reached the conclusion that it would be easier if we just send him back, maybe that will end some of the harassment. Right now he needs his teeth floated badly, that's going to run close to $200 & I'll be damned if I am going to pay that if the law is just going to tell us we have no claim of ownership...I know that sounds bad because Dallas is the one who will suffer. We've been told we cannot move him anywhere. George suggested telling them he died but I am quite sure we'd have to produce a body to prove it so that's out...Sorry to go on like this but I really don't have anyone else to talk to about it.
BTW now that y'all have got me thinking brownies I guess I'll pick up some mix when I go to the grocery in a bit LOL.
