Since this is a new post and no one has put anything on it, I will start. I have a dog (a four legged demolition crew to be truthful)named Barney. I have just about gotten to the point where not much he does supprises me (or so I thought). I came home the other day and what I saw when I got around the corner of my house amazed me. I had a ten gallon fish tank sitting outside the house to dry out after all the fish died. Barney, who hates to be chained but has too, had chewed up the tank. Not the accesories in the tank, the tank itself. There was not one side (minus the bottem) he had not broke and chewed on. There was blood on some of the glass and my first thought was if he had swolled any glass. I checked his mouth and that was not where the blood came from. No nicks or cuts or any damage what so ever. Not being totally suprided about this (he has after all chewed on a full container of anti-freeze, a shot glass and swallowed a needel and thread and then vomited it back up and has caused himself no damage) I checked his, well uh, {how to put this as to not sound so gross or weird} "yard stuff", to make sure there was no blood or tiny pieces of glass. Nope, nothing. This was a week ago, so had I missed anything I would have to guess that I would have seen signed by now. Nope the little shredder is fine.
Today when I get home (barney was left outside again) and since I had already picked up the broken glass peices, put them in a bag, and was waiting until trash day, I was real suprised to see that Barney had been busy again. This time, he got ahold of the bag (how I don't know cause I know I checked the length of the chain in proxcimity to the bag)and has now finished off the fish tank. There is no longer any thing left of the glass that was not in shards! All the accesories are fine. He did not want the plastic plants, or the plastic pump or small, easy passable,  stones. Just the glass. There is no recognizable side of the tank. In picking up the pieces (again!), you could not tell from what side or where the glass came from. This dog is truly amazing.
I have not put a bullet in this dogs head for a couple of reasons. I have seriouslyconsidered the idea several times, and besides the fact that I would have to dig the hole, I hope that when my time comes, God will have seen the suffering I went through, caring for one of his lost little creatures, He will think I have paid enough pennince for any transgretions I may have commited while here on earth, and will swing the gates of heaven open to me.

Ok, any body else have a pet that is amazing?
[grin]

LOL!!!!!!!!!  Oh man that is funny.  Lucky he's not hurt!  What kind of dog is he?

Unfortunately my dog is just a jerk (livestock botherer) (although he's an ANGEL with my son and an otherwise good dog).  But he's pretty much boring. :)

I did, however, hear a story from one of my instructors in college.  He has labs, and is a professional Graphic Designer, so obviously has alot of art supplies around.  He told us one time that his dogs ate a bunch of his Gouache (which is an opaque watercolor paint).  Well the funny part was when it "came out"!!  He said his yard was rainbow-colored for days.  LOL

Barney is a cross between a beaver and a groundhog. Some where in there is begal and blue something. I can not say that he was not hurt, just that his mouth wasn't. He did cut the tip of a pad up and has been limping around the house. I have checked his feet and the cut, although painful, is not serious.
I tell him he deserves it and have only a slight bit of sympathy for him. After all, this is the same 35lbs bundel of distruction that has eaten the back screened in porch-twice, and completley removed the door and frame, part of my horse fence (the bottem half completly gone), one side of my horse barns doors, and dug holes big enough to put in a fish pond (the kidney shape ones). I actualy had a frog who lived in "Barney's" pond, right outside, of what used to be, the back door of the porch.
I can always tell how much rain we got by how full the pond is. He has chewed up enough hose that it was cheaper to just put in a water line back to the barn. I tell him constantly how lucky he is to be living here. Anybody, with half a brain at all, would have donated this dog to science a long time ago.
His name is Barney-not for the annoying purple dinosaur, seen on T.V.-but for P.T.Barnum, who was coined with the phrase,"There's a Sucker Born Every Minute". I am living proof, casue that dog is still here.

Ok, well I haven't posted on this much but HAD to respond.  My boxer, Mac, ate an entire baggy of my ex-roomies marijuana.  I called my aunt panicking and she called her vet.  She said the vet just crracked up and that he would be fine.  He was -- after doing nothing but sleeping and drinking water for 24 hours!
I later called that vet because she had a horse for sale I was interested in.  In the message I said who my aunt was...she never called me back about the horse.  I don't know if there is a connection or not

Yup, Barney did the same thing. (not my weed) The dog was stoned for several hours. I was real upset because my friend stashed it here thinking it would be  safe. After I saw how stoned he was, I called my friend to tell them what happened. They came over mad but after they saw him we all laughed. I told them that, that must have been some good stuff.

UPDATE... Barney has now eaten the back porch again and chewed up a 5 gallon bucket of glass bottels (and the bucket). For the last three days I have been working 12 hours a day. I now have a wonderful, beautiful fence. Took him all of two hours to figure out how to get out[confused]. He went underneth. I have that exit fixed now. If he chews on this then the problem will be over. It is pressure treated.

Oh my goodness, this post made me laugh- thank you! We have three terrors here, all under a year old: 2 mini-doxies & hubby's stoopid dog- a blue heeler pup.
Stoopid dog eats anything not nailed down. She's eaten the ends off the den couch (a yard sale special so no big deal there), the rails off the magazine rack, firewood is a favorite snack & God forbid you leave clothes or shoes within reach.
The doxies are a little more picky...they LOVE "road apples" & sneak into the horse pasture and carry them to the front porch until they have a nice pile going on(gotta love that when surprise company shows up!), then they argue over who gets which one. They're worse than my kids for bickering!
The worst thing with them was when we rearranged the den, dining room & breakfast bar. They figured out how to jump from couch to coffee table to dining table to stool and up onto the counter.(they are sneaky little boogers)
Couldn't figure out why cookies & such were disappearing until I heard a strange noise one night...tiptoed into the kitchen, flipped the light on & there they are- unwrapping a cobbler we'd had for dessert!!!! [eek] Don't know who was more surprised, me or them LOL!

Life ain't about how fast you run, or how high you climb, but how well you bounce.

Just thought I would give you all an update on the k-9 demolition expert. He has had his yard since last summer and seems to be happy now. He has been passing his digging knowledge on to the next generation. He has been teaching my Dalmatian how to dig and get that special touch to the holes. The last thing he has chewed was the gallon paint can I used to paint the new fence (and yes Barney has already autographed that too). It only had about a quarter can of paint in it so he is just fine. My back porch has some color to it now and my wooden floors have been decorated with  his version of modern art. It looks really cute to have white doggy foot prints leading you thru the house to the bathroom and living room couch. Of course you have to stop by the dog food and water bowels first. I do however know that God has a sense of humor. I picked up a 6 month old ferret this past summer (one of four) and this new fuzzy likes to pester the other animals. Guess who his favorite animal to bug is? Barney has no peace when Blaze is running loose. Blaze likes to roust him from his favorite sleeping/hiding places when ever the opportunity presents itself [grin]. It is great to see this little three pound ferret chase this 35 lbs demolition crew thru the house to the point that Barney begs me to rescue him, and I do....sometimes (hehehe[evil]).

I did need it. Would you believe on top of everything else that has happened BOTH kids are down with the flu. At least that's kept me busy & not brooding in a corner.
Love the image of painted doggy prints BTW, sounds like something that would happen around here!
