Shann is in Kentucky (which could almost be considered a forigen country
) Oh man HH, did you
REALLY go there?

? ESPECIALLY after your "tour" of our fair commonwealth today???

Oh yes I did!!!!

I went there and about every where else!
Ok, everybody let me set the stage here for this one. I live just north of Evansville In, About 15 miles. Shann lives just west of Louisville Ky. About 45 miles maybe 50. It only takes me 2.5 hours to get to Louisville from my house with a truck and trailer. Starting from Henderson Ky., following Shanns directions, it takes me three hours and I still over shoot her place by about 10 miles. I end up on the other side of Fort Knox in a small whistle stop named West Point. Shann gave me direction and told me to look for a Marathon station at the intersection of 448 and hwy 60. It should be easy to find since the intersection has a stop-light at it. Once I see this then I am to look for the next Marathon station about two miles down and turn there. Ok, I am traveling along and get to see the wonderful countryside of the middle part of Ky. I am looking at the clock and wondering when I am supposed to get there since I have been hauling Sissy for almost 2.5 hours now. I see a Marathon station with a light but it is the junction of St Rd 144 and 60. So I go past still looking for 448. I get to a ‘T’ and must turn right or left. I look at the signs. To the left is hwy 60 to the right, is hwy 31. I turn left. After going a little further and noticing I have now been on the road three hours and am quickly approaching Louisville, I stop at a gas station, with just enough room for me to pull the truck and trailer. I call Shann. Ok, I am in some place called West Point and some one had better come fetch me. Now, as I am waiting, I ask the girls in the store what road I am on. They tell me I am not on 60 but I am on 31W. Hu? There is the sign (you can see from the counter) that has both road signs on it. The girls tell me that I am not on 60 but that I am on 31W. What ever. As I am waiting, Mother Nature tells me it is time to go to the little girls room. I ask where the restrooms are and the girls tell me “we don’t have one”. Are you kidding me? You are a public gas station with out public restrooms? I am thinking, “Shann, get here fast!” I try to think of something else (anything else) crossing my legs but finally have to go in and ask if there are any restrooms with in a short distance. “Nope”. I go out side and start to survey the area for the nearest tree or clump of bushes. I have been on the road for several hours, and had been drinking my Mt. Dew since I left Henderson and Mother Nature is not going to let me ignore her request. I guess I must have had a look of desperation on my face, because right before I try to find the nearest tree (and there is no where I would not be in the public view) one of the girls comes out and tells me I can use the employee restroom. As I am sprinting past her I tell her thank you and find the restroom. Relief never felt so good! Very shortly after I am finished, I see Shann and George pull up. Since Shann also did not know that 31W and 60 run together, I show her the signs. Learn something new everyday. I can believe that she might not know this easier then I can believe that the two girls in the store don’t know this since you can see both road signs from the counter. Shann gets in the truck with me but George does not let us out of his sight anyway. As we get to the Marathon station I point out the road is 144, not 448. When I went home last night (following George’s directions) I saw where 448 feeds into 144. That would have worked well had I been coming in from Brandenburg (which is north). Does not work if you are coming in from Henderson (which is west).
Shann honey, you are a truly smart, caring, wonderful person, but Rand McNally your not.

Next time someone needs directions, hand the phone to George.

I should mention that since She and George fed me some really good bar-b-que and they are housing Sissy and my trailer (long story of why the trailer is there) the
looonnnnggg drive was well worth it.
