Well I hadn't actually thought of any names, good idea.  I think that we could get some interest going on this but everyone needs to understand how much work is going to be involved in putting this on but it could be great.  I have not posted on the other boards, sometimes think there is way to much negativity on both of those but we all have our opinions and that is what makes the world go round.  What we need to do is get a core group together and have a meeting of the minds so to speak but you are also right about not being confused with the EBFA and we also want people to understand this will benefit those riding open horses as well.  The more the merrier and everyone wins that way.

HorseHappy, I remember the Valley Riders when they were at the old arena on Morgantown road and had more gamers than anyone else.  I was show chairman there one year.  I remember when the Indiana Ropers and Doggers Assn ran all their shows with the GBRA, back in the 60's and very early 70's.  Wasn't much serious barrel racing then.  I bet I must know you.

We would need to get some sponsors to pay for the initial advertising, after all you can't get the entries or the studs nominated for the added money without this.  I also want you to know that I am looking at Ohio arenas for this first one as we need one that can be used regardless of weather.  If this grows like it could then we can always progress to a really large facility.  So many little things to come up with.

We could contact Eric Maxel over at Circle G Arena in Lewisberg - he's a buddy of mine.  I'm sure something could be worked out there and that would be a great facility to start with.  There's also Roberts in Wilmington, but I don't think I know anybody over there.  [tongue]

I still think we need some more folks interested so we can get together, like you said a meeting of the minds, and get some rules and ideas written down.  Is there a place that folks would like to get together sometime soon and do this?  I'm open to anything within about a small drive, so pretty much Ohio, IN, KY area.  Actually, Cincinnati would be great for me.  Let me know what you all think!

Horsehappy, are you related to Mushie as in Janie or are you the boarder (brain fart can't remember name)?

Running horse, Cincinati is only about an hour or so from me so that would work as a meeting place.  I really think we should get a bunch of people together, those that can contribute, time money or would like to be in the formation of this group.  Like I said I have a real good CPA/attorney so we can get him to incorp us or what ever legal stuff would need to be done.  Maybe we should put a post on the other 2 boards and see if there would be any interest in people entering something that could benefit everyone up front or should we wait until after a think tank session?  [tongue]

I put a post on the other 2 boards, one got deleted (guess which one LOL!)...  But I'd like to see more people's input on the subject - and maybe get more people involved - before our think tank session.  I think that the more people involved from the get go, the better.  If you'd like to hop over to BarrelHorseWorld and elaborate on the subject, please be my guest!! HTTP://www.barrelhorseworld.com/forum/thread-view.asp?threadid=2096&posts=5  I'm excited for this!

Horsehappy, I remember you!!!!  Are you coming to the state show this year?

RunningHorses I posted again on the barrel bulletin board, don't know why some of the moderators are so uptight.  I just tried to change it a little.  I don't want to get to many people involved, I would like to all the input at a meeting but I really want to see if we can get a group of people together to get it off the ground if we can get enough response and interest.  I have had a couple of people that have older horses that they would pay into the stud program just to be able to run in the sweepstakes part of it on studs that are long dead.  That tells me that there are people out there that would be willing to promote their horses anyway they can.  I really think this could eventually take off.

Small world hu? [rolleyes]
I may go to the state show but only to watch. If I have a horse there it will most likely be a quarter horse mare and a girl named Ashley will be on her. I don't think my colt will be ready for that quite yet. Ahsley will have him too.
I like the idea and was going to post something on HC but I think you guys have tried. I would be interested to see what kind of response it would get as well.

BTW, is one of your horse in the yea/Neigh post? One named Raven in the morning?

Well Ashley is the Double U farms?  I got old and fat but am still trying to do this but boy am I getting tired of doing the directors job and want to do some other things.  I like my little stud, he is terrible to take pictures of or I would post one but I am going to try and promote him the best I can.  He is going to have to drag my big behind around the barrels unless I can shed about 30 pounds and if I could turn back the clock about that many years that would really help.  I posted on the bulletin board again, just have to see how long they will leave it there.  I think something like this would take off and I don't think it will really be something that the futurity riders will be able to hog off like they are trying to do with the Future Fortunes program in the BFA.  I feel like there has to be a way for stallion owners and breeders of barrel horses to be able to pull together and promote their horses and take care of everyone and not just a set few.  There are just to many horses out there that are older that need to be able to have something else going for them too.  It may help to promote longevity in the barrel horses instead of use them and throw them away.  I want to haul a little and if I am going to put all the effort into a show like we do for that one then I am going to get something out of it.  Hard to ride and help do something like that too.   Hope you are all doing well.  Say hi to Janie for me, if she is still living down south.[evil]

Ok, I am guessing that Raven in the morning is your horse, (I like his name) and have to ask if that is one out of Peanut Burdens stud, Angel in the morn? Angel can't still be around, can he?
As far as the state show, I will try but it depends on when (or if) I can get off work that weekend. (I am kinda doubting it[frown]) Do you know the dates?
As far as Janie goes, I have not talk to her since Mushie died.
Ashley is the Double U farms and she will be riding the stud colt this year and the mare after she foals. She is doing a good job with them and it has been long enough for me that I know better then to think I can just "pick up" where I left off. I am still going to try to ride sometime but that will come later. Between trying to get Junior started (my colt) Dasher foaled and re-started, get my yearling going, rebred my paint mare and secure a full time job to pay for all this, riding takes a back seat.
[rolleyes]

No, not my stud.  His name is Country Sun Socks.  I don't think anyone ever kept a stud out of old Angel.  He has been dead a long time now.   It is hard picking back up and running again.  I had to go buy an older gelding that has been there and done that so he would wait for me and he has done just that and now I can move on again.

I am talking with a few other people about getting this going, most of them would support a show but don't seem to want to put much else other than entry fees into this.  I am going to try and contact the 5 state breeders assn and see how they have gotten theres going and the Hawkeye Futurity and see what Renee had to do to get hers going.  I am really trying to do my homework on this one.  Hope we can make it fly
