I tried hard not to hit the dirt when I was younger, I try even harder now that I'm older! Grin  I get too attached to the horses too.  It took me two years to desided to sell a horse.  He wasn't even that good, it took me getting kicked int he chest by him to deside to sell him!  Thats a horse I regret even buying! Shocked  My mare is the only horse I own that I will never sell.  Hubby says he won't sell his mare, but I bet if the right amount of money came along he would sell her.

Horse Happy, that would have been the day that I debated whether to wake you up or not until Gary told me that he would not be over until either late in the afternoon or not at all.  I really did not think you wanted to miss your run.  And besides you should have been more rested, I mean we did get a whole 2 hours sleep you know.

Horse Happy was running her horse at like 1:30 in the morning and I set barrels until 2:15.  Partying would have been much better.

I bet it's fun tho!  Do you have alot of help, or do most people want to run and not help?

It was fun for me. Not sure how much fun it was for Val since she had to work almost all of it. As far as people helping it is a mix. I voluntered for the senior class on Sat. There were a few people that they had to call several times and some that did not show up at all. In Val's district, you get charged if you don't work. In my district, they normally don't have too many problems getting people to work. You only have to work for so long so it is not that big a deal. I think my dist had the only people (besides maybe Val) that had to work for more then a hour. The only thing I had to deal with was the fact that I had to climb a fence every time someone hit a barrel. I asked my dist director how I got the side with no gate and he said I was younger then everybody else working so he figured I could handel it. Roll Eyes

What, you climbed the fence?   Shocked  you must have had the 1st barrel.  Tell Chuck to get you a lawn chair like everyone else had.

My district has to work 50 horses or pay 15.00 if they want district awards, no work no award for you.  Some want them some don't .   It only take an hour to run 50 horses so it should not have been that hard for anyone.

It is getting harder and harder to get people to work, I had to work the gate twice and had to set up barrels for a couple of hours on top of everything else I had to do.

Tell Chuck??? Like that would really do it. :rotf: It was really my choice not to stay in the arena. After seeing a few of the horses go up the fence I did not eel comfortable about standing (or sitting) in the arena. Besides, about the only ones in the arena were the folks on the third barrel. They have enough room not to have to worry about a horse coming their way. Of course taking the wire of the gate on the first barrel would have been a big help. Cheesy

It is not that I think Chuck is a grouch. He is'nt. But it is like telling Barney to stay in the yard. If he doesn't want to he is not going too.Besides, you only have that look that scares people. We all know youra big softy. Grin
