Went to a show yesterday.  Solomon did SO WELL! He is just getting better and better every time out!

Jackpot Barrels-23 seconds on a good size pattern.  He balked at the second barrel a little because the speakers were making a buzzing noise.  But he was actually really pushing on the way home.  AND! we got our second check!  4th place

Barrels-21 seconds.  So at least we are beating our times! 5th place out of 8 riders

Texas Barrels (they call them Speed Barrels, the three barrels in a row)-We ran a 8.5!!!! rainbowdance At the last show we ran 10 something so we beat our time again! He didnt slow down once, just flew through the pattern.  We got 2nd  clap2

Single Pole-They had it ALLLLLL the way down at the end of the arena, and it was a huge arena.  We ran 9 seconds!!!!! blob9 I was so proud of Solomon, I think its the fastest I have ever felt him run.  We got 2nd in that.

JackPot Poles-We didnt have a good run. It was my fault because I didnt cue him in time so we broke pattern.  But they still placed us, we got 3rd and another check!

Poles-AWESOME RUN! We ran a 28 second run!!! I was SO PROUD!!!!! We got 2nd again!

So far this year Solomon has gotten 3 checks, a total of $21.50  headbang  I am so proud of him! (how many times did i say that?)

Also, it was kind of warm, but Solomon never even got sweaty, (just where the saddle is) I was proud of him for that because he is in the best shape he has ever been in.

I dont have any pictures because the lady who goes with me to take pictures took her 5 year old Mustang, Raven, to the show.  Dorothy and Raven ride english but I was showing her how to do barrels and she wanted to get Raven out to new places.  She did Walk/Trot Barrels, Poles, Single Pole and Speed Barrels and got three 1st and a 3rd.

If it was just three turns and home, everyone could do it!

Good deal, it is always great to improve upon yourself.  Someone that I really respect a lot (as far as being a competitor) once told me that your best competitor was yourself and not the others that you ran with.

It sounds like Solomon is really doing a good job for you, way to go  clap2

Now HorseHappy, you and Dasher are going to be fine, you just are way to hard on yourself.  You are improving, you just are too much like Fuzz  -- sometimes you just have to go and run and not train.   dontknow

Oh well, I am going to haul some this winter/fall even if my arm falls off.  If I go to Circle G I will put in a call to Nicole and Ramsay to come help me get on and off and if I go down south I will call Horsehappy and Shannon.  How about it girls?   blob10

when I was younger I would bounce, now I just splat

Maine!  That is GREAT blob10  It is always a big confidence booster to better your time!  All your hard work is paying off!  I'm so jealous you are getting to run!  Still woring on getting Scout there.  I want to take my time with him and hopfully this winter or next spring I will have updates of my own!

Val- you best be breaking out the winter clothes cause I am COUNTING on meeting you at Circle G this winter!  I wanna get Scout started and when I think he will be worthy of you even watching him I would love it for you to give us some pointers.  My goal is still to do Novice Barrels at Wilmington over the New Year, even if I have to lope thro them. blob10

You are comparing me to Fuzz? clap2 I take that as a compliment because he was one hell of a horseman!!!

Of course I will help you on and off if you come down here. I am planning on being at Chucks so no problem there. smile
