Working on a new logo for Runninghorses.net...  The current one, while I am proud of it, I think is hard to see (from a distance) on shirts and other promotional items.  I would like everyone's opinions on which y'all like better, the current one, or the new idea.  OR if you have any other idea, please by all means, run them by me!  :)

Here's the current one:

And here's the current version of my newest idea... If I go with this one, I will work on the horse/rider a little to "clean" it up (for reproduction purposes, minor graphic changes)...

Ramsey, If you are looking for something that can be seen from a distance then the second one is the way to go. The name itself is not any different but with a solid horse and rider then you are not standing there wondering "what is that above the lettering?" when you are looking at far away. The only draw back is that almost everybody else who has a name and logo involving horses and running has about the same thing or close to it. If these are for shirts or stickers (a future idea) then work with some color. Me being a person who looks around at things and notices horse related items, bright colors or real unusual pictures will catch my attention first. If I am looking at a board full of business cards, the one that stick out with bright colors, gold leaf lettering or even picture cards (my favorite) will catch my eye first. I then look at it closer to see if it involves some aspect of horses that I am interested in. If it does then allot of times I will take a card or jot the name down and check it out further.
If it is for a shirt, then work with bright colored materials. The black logo would look good on bright colored shirts (or visa versa). At the Hoosier horse fair, I would notice the people wearing bright shirts first. Also the more professionally done the better. I really did not give much of a glance to shirts that had iron on lettering compaired to those that were silk screened. Hope it helps.   [grin]
