i almost bought a duck dance bred horse, with on the money red on the top side... note the almost..
i heard Duck Dance horses and Merganser's were very hot and tempermental..

what about Joak, Tufffernhel, and Depth Charge? new gelding Will is Sun Frost, Joak,Pacific Bailey and Depth Charge{twice} and Tuffernhel{twice}.. i posted his and Moon's pedigree on allbreedpedigree.com

his reg name is Leo Wills Charger and Moon's is Miss Hempen Moon

have heard nothing but fantastic things about Sun Frost, although one lady down here  has said that her SunFrost gelding was pretty broncy...cant say i blame him, she has no seat and heavy hands, gives conflicting signals constantly.

I have known only one Merganser horse. A horse that was so laid back they called her Granny. No temperment there. Not much of anything there. Roll Eyes She may have some breathing problems though. I told a guy (who has race horses) what she was doing (breathing wise) after her work outs and how laid back she ( I was trying to buy her) was and he said it sounded like a (I know I am going to spell this wrong but I will get as close as I can) pharengeal flap? I never had her checked out by a vet (long story Roll Eyes) so I don't know. She had Duck Dance on her papers too. The only thing I have heard about Duck Dance horses is they tend to be small. Built and athletic, but small.

I have been around a lot of Mergansers and about 90% of them are hot, those are also the ones that make the best horses.  The Duck Dance horses I truly love but they can also be a little bit on the warm side.  I like a hotter type horse for some reason, must be why I like St. Bar horses so much, like the Power Trains and the Osceola Warriors.

The Sunfrost horses won't take a steady diet over and over of anything.  You have to do a variety of things with them.  They are smart and figure things out very quickly, you show them what you want them to do then you have to get out of their way and trust them to do it.  I have that problem sometimes and Ziggy starts trying to out think me.  He is trying to tell me something.  The ones I have been around are not broncs but they won't take a lot of bull either.

Tuffernhell horses I know nothing about other than my neighbors have some pleasure horses with that breeding.  Pacific Baileys I do know about, we used to go to Guy Ray Rutlands every year and buy weanlings or broodmares from him.  Those horses have a reputation as being blow ups but then I think most all of the "old time" race horses have the reputation.  They need jobs and they will not let you push them beyond what they are able to process which is why they were not popular around this neck of the woods other than as race horses.  Now some of those were broncs!  And they talk about the Hancock horses being broncs  Roll Eyes  I still like those old timey horses better than most modern day ones.  I would like to get a Hancock mare and cross on my TB stud and I had a Otoes Wonder mare that I crossed on Ziggy but I think I would like to try her on the TB also.  But then since that lady never paid the stud fee I doubt she would pay for the TB and would not register that one either.   Cry

I don't think I am awesome but I appreciate the compliment.  In hindsight, there are is a handful of horses that I have had in the past that I wish I would have hung on to.  If I had done so I might be enjoying my riding a lot more than I am now.  One is a Pacific Bailey mare, a Power Train mare, a Duck Dance gelding, and my favorite old mare which has no breeding at all.   Cry

well, you are!
i think there are horses that you know you will miss. and that is what makes them so great, they leave hoofprints on your heart and you remember them and say "darn it, why did i sell?"
i was lucky enough to be able to buy back my "darn it!" , it was Just ... was crazy to sell, but i was going back to pleasure and needed the room.. but sure bought him back in a heartbeat. wave

Just Jettin,
I just bought my 1st Easy Jet horse a few months ago,  What are they're temperents know to be like?  so far he is laid back, but tends to stubborn at times.  He is a son of Shoot Yeah out of a Jet of Honor daughter.  Maybe I bought to much Jet lol.  Nothing @ all like my flit bar mare.

Welcome to the boards!!!

I had a filly by Shoot Yeah, very quiet and laid back.  I used to stand a stud by Easy Jet and his babies were all hard headed and had minds of their owns, a little tempermental.  HorseHappy has a granddaugther of Easy Jet and I believe she can be alittle that way too.

I like the Flit Bar horses, glad to have you on the boards

Hi got2run3, welcome to the boards!!!
Easy jet horses are a very typical type A personality, Jet is a perfectionist and doesnt like to hit a barrel, he can be hot,but mostly is very laid back and mellow. He is a "no bull taking" kind of horse and is quick to let you know when he is bored.

I almost bought a Shoot Yeah son.. very nice horses, but I couldnt find a hauler that would make the trip..bummer!!

again, welcome and i hope that  you hang around here, as everyone here is wonderful!!

Thank you so much for the warm welcome.  That is good to know about the jet horses, he has some type a  traits already,  It has to be his idea lol.   He is super sweet though he seems pretty laid back,  I hope he doesn't get hot, his laid back attitude is why I bought him : )   he is just coming 4, I was wondering though because he dumped me a week and half ago,  I ended up under him and step on the side of my head, and got a trip to the ER and some stitches behind my ear, This  after I had lunged him for 30 minutes and had been riding for 30-40 minutes actually was getting ready to get off and he just had a little come apart and I was totally not expecting it so I fall off.     He is just so different from my flit bar horses I have had.   With the Flits, they seem to want to please you and so far with him, he seems indifferent or maybe its a gelding/mare thing lol.

Well HorseHappy and you should talk.  Her mare is just as quiet as can be until she decides that you don't need to be up there and she will just dump you and stand there like "who me?"  She broke her nose with that one

Hey there newbie. welcome newbie Glad to see you posting.
As far as your Easy Jet dumping you...
Been there. Done that. Sounds exactley like what happen with me and my Easy Jet Grnddaugter. She did almost the exact same thing. Broke my nose. Bought her anyway. Then when I got her home, tried to get on her again. Bam! This time it was a real hard knock to the head. brick She is a big puppy dog on the ground. Just too quick for me to ride her. She did not buck or anything, just turned out from under me. Man this mare is quick. She is now going to be my studs love interest in the spring.  love8
Glad to have you on the board.
BTW, where ya from?
