Thanks! but no thanks had one of those too much work instinct to suite me mine had to always be tied or he'd work the stock to death. & I've already got 2 males that don't get along I don't think I want to add another male to the mix.

Ramsay what is wrong with the border collie?  Does he listen when you speak or does he need a hearing aid?

LOL Val, just about!  See there's some kind of electronic interference with his hearing aid when there's livestock around.  So the poor guys has to live his life on a line (he's lately taken to running the neighbor's livestock).  He's not BAD with them, just doing his "job", only problem is he doesn't know what his job is nor was he ever trained for it.  He'd make a heck of a good working dog if trained for it, or an awesome family dog for someone AWAY from livestock. lol

sounds just like the dog we had I could send him 1/4 mi to back field to get 12 horses by himself & it might take 1/2 hour but pretty soon here he'd come with them. Awesome dog but when you were not watching him had to be tied, always wanting to work. Dogs like that are actually very easy to train once they find out you are going to let them chase the stock IF they listen.

Thats what I like about the heelers they will work if theres work to do but are just as content to lay on the porch.

A kid about a mile down the road has a boarder collie that is just like that.  He is also dog aggressive.  He works everything except is terrified of goats!!  My regular collie is like that too!  Drives me nuts, she helps me way to much with the horses and I am working on her hearing aid.  I thought all that stuff was bred out of collies.  This one is no Lassie let me tell you.  Bossy dog!  My last healer chased dump trucks until he caught one.  Never chased cars, pick up trucks, just dump trucks and semi's.  Also used to grab the tread on the tractor tires and let him be lifted until straight up in the air then let go and grab again and go for another ride.  I should have known then how he was going to be.  My next dog is going to be a pure mutt or a grouchy dog, have to get them as pups though because I don't get along well with cat chasers.  Cats are the big bosses around this place as my next door neighbor has rats and that is where they need to stay.  [cry]
