Do you think this sounds like fun?  We should a bunch of us get together sometime and someplace and just have a trail ride, campfire, roast marshmellows and have a good time.  My old barrel gelding will think I have lost my mind but I am not up for a trail ride on a 2yr old this summer.  Sound like fun?  What do you think?

Ooh, YES!!!Yes!!![grin] Take me, take me. (jumping up and down to get noticed)I just have to find something to ride. Sometime in July would be good but not July fourth. (I have a family reunion in Somerset, Ky.) Or maybe the end of September would be good too. Not too hot, not too cold. Where though?

Well it can't be in July unless it is more like the end of July.  Don't want to wait to late in September as that is the start of bee season. Are you all thinking about a 1day or a weekend somewhere?  Midwest has cabins if you don't have a trailer to stay in, they also have stalls for the horses, Bloomington may be a haul for you 2 but they have 24hr a day coffee and tea and that kind of thing, firewood, good showers and lots of marked trails.  You guys know of any other places that have electric and stuff?  If we try an overnighter then I would prefer the stalls as we will have to haul a stud colt and I maybe able to talk a couple of my friends into going also.  They would fit in just great.  I would love to get together somewhere with you all.  Sounds like so much fun.  [bounce] [grin] [wink] [smile]   [tongue]

Bloomington, as in Hoosier National Forest? Have not been there in twenty five years (last time was with Jo and Janie and we got lost [confused] ended up some place that had signs warning about some kind of shooting range for the military.) That was fun. Bloomington is not too bad for me. Any place that you can think of that might be closer to Ohio? That way maybe Ramsey and a few others can come. Does Brown County still have trails in their park or are they about done with that?
Two day would be fine with me. Saturday and/or a Sunday is fine.

LOL Laura! That was probably Crane Naval Base! Yes Brown Co has trails, but it is about the same distance as Bloomington. Overnight sounds fine, Late July sounds OK too.[grin] Whatever you guys think. Let me know when you figure it out, because I'll have to make some sort of trailering arrangements. Wish I had a trailer.....

Well pick up a trader paper and buy a used stock trailer.  You should be able to find one pretty cheap that would work fine.  I haven't been to Brown County in a long time because of serious overcrowding issues.  Horses running loose and kids were wild last time I went there.

Laura you should check out Midwest trail rides website.  The downside to them is that their class A camping is in the sun as the trees they planted don't do much but you could take Junior since they have some stud stalls?  My hubby can take our stud and we won't have to worry about loose mares in the middle of the night.  There are trails in Whitewater over toward Cincinnati but they have only primitive camping and that could be a problems for some but not for everyone and only one major long trail around the whole park.  Anyone know of anyplace else?

Be honest with you, the only place that jumps to mind for me is Shawnee Natl Forest. I have never been there so I don't know what type of accommodations they have. Every one, who I have talked to that has been there, loves it. It is quite a haul for anyone else though. Any body know or been there?

If you don't have one by then, and depending on how many I take, I can pick you up. I have a three horse and don't think I will be taking three. You would be taking a gelding, right?

Wish I could afford it, but if I even bought one, we'd have to buy a new truck also. We just can't right now!

I used to live in So. Il. right in Shawnee. Never rode there, but hiked A LOT! I love it.

Yeah, he is a gelding, but if Matt would want to borrow one of mom's horses and go, we would still probably have to do something different. I hate Matt being LAID OFF![evil]But thanks, we'll see when it is closer, might be more fun w/o him , LOL!!!

Well Matt could go and hang out, just lay around keep the fires burning and be our chief chef?  LOL  I bet that would just thrill him.  My husband would just have some smart answer to that one.  [evil]

I've been to Caeser's Creek before, it's got good trails, but the camping is VERRRRY primative...  I'd actually prefer to go somewhere "new" myself!!!  I like the idea of going to Smoke Rise -- We can even "rent" horses for those of us who don't have a mount!!!!!
