HAHA, you know me, always up for a good weiner roast!

As far as the trail ride goes, I'm up for it!!  Have we picked a weekend yet?  I have a friend who's getting a TB mare (she rides english though) but she might want to go.  The more the merrier!  And are we going to go to the friends place in KY?  I'm with Val, I'm pretty much open to ideas and anything else.  How about picking some dates/locations and then I can put it in a poll!

We went to Princeton, BC to the 7 Half Diamond Ranch.  Gorgeous.  I would imagine a bit too far for you guys though!!

British Columbia might be a mite to far for us.  Okay, I am pretty flexible but would prefer to get together somewhere that we can all relax and shower and that stuff.

Your friend can ride english on the trails.  I have a boarder that used to take her arab to brown county every weekend in her english saddle.

I put in for Midwest, small stalls, free firewood, free coffee, iced tea and sodas and has bunk houses available for those that have no place to stay.

Get a poll going.  Good idea [tongue]

Valerie, are you going on a trail ride or vacation? (hehe) I suggested the weekend of Sept. 18th and 19th. Buds place is beautiful but not exactly a luxery hotel. There would be some advantages
1. FREE No cost to ride or park but no hotel either. (or showers, bunk house, Not sure about the coffee.)
2. Beatuiful scenary (I really miss the spell check [frown])
3. About an equal distance for most people. (long drive any way around it though)
4. Easy trails (once you get there)
5. No rules except our own. (and don't burn down the tobbacco barns or green house.)
6. For those who dare, Moonshine? (the real thing BTW)

I am up for the ride. If you guys want to go some where that is more Established that is fine. This was just an idea and it was cheap. But any where is fine (minus Oklahoma and points west)as long as I can get there in at least 6 hours. (some of us do have to go back to work during the week.)

6 hours?  It would take me about 4 or so to get to Somerset/London Ky  Where are we going that would take 6 hours.  What are the travel restrictions to KY?  Just coggins?  How is the electrical hook ups there?  I need electric as my generator died again (lemmon) and I need to be able to fill my water tank for a shower.  I always consider a trail ride to be a vacation for my horse but I ain't into moonshine.  Too hard on me.  Beer or a froo froo drink is more my style these days.  Free is always good as long as I can wash afterward.  That weekend sounds good to me as long as we can all find a place and get together.  I wonder how many of us will end up going?   [bounce]

I just called Midwest Trails in IN... the earliest weekend they have open from now til the end of their season is Oct. 22-23... and it runs $13.50/nite/person which includes your electric and water, plus firewood, stall, and other stuff...  it's $11.50 for a primitive site.  If we can get together 20 or more ppl, they will give us a 10% discount.

October?  That is to late for me.  What do you all think about the place Laura is talking about?  I just kind of wanted a stall if I could get it for my stud horse, not keen on tying him out all night in a strange place.

Do any of us have any portable stall panels that we could at least put up for the studs?  I think the place Laura knows about might be alright!  I hope we can find it! hahaha. j/k.

The place I am talking about is in Clay Co. Ky. Just south of Manchester Ky. off of I75. It is about 45 min. from the highway by trailer.  It does have a barn that could have a stall made from it. (three sides but no door. more like a tie stall) We could get water to fill your shower and if you have extension cords, then you could have electricity. As far as any alcohol goes, Clay co. is a dry county, but that never seemed to stop anybody there. Just have to bring your own. No problem with the fire wood (remember all the trees I had come down?) I could bring a bunch. It would be about a four hour haul for most of us (the 6 hours I was talking about was like Oklahoma or something). I know you have to have a coggins and maybe health papers. Nothing besides that though. I am pretty sure he has enough land in front that we could get the trailers and trucks parked. And get them out. there is a house there, just not something that some one lives in on a regular basis. It was Buds house when he was growing up. Held a family of six, but has not been lived in any more then weekend stays for him, in years. It does not have running water, but the trailer his cousin lives in does. Bud e-mailed me (see, not completley away from the world) and told me he was building a cabin. A log cabin. He said he was going to stay there most of the time when it is done. He just has to finish cutting the logs and build it. I do not have any problem with where ever we go, just need to know soon enough to schedual "things". I would love to take the mare out for a trail ride and get to meet (and see) some of you guys.[grin]

Hey, just fot an e-mail from Bud. There may indeed, be a hotel (of sorts) to use for this trip. Bud just told me that the folks who are living in the trailer are planning on moving out soon. He said that we could use the trailer that weekend. It has running water, a stove, heat, electric, and a way to make coffee (Val[wink] ) all the comforts of home. I think it has two maybe three bedrooms and a couch. Not sure waht kind of furniture will be in it, but it is a little better then the outside ground. Yes? [tongue]

Hey guys, just bumping this up to give a bit more thought to it. I really need to tell Bud what we are going to do here in a couple of weeks. Anybody given any more time to the idea? I just need to get an idea of how many might want to do this. Let me know.
