Does he like to fish? There are two ponds there he can fish from. If you have a 4wheeler he can do that too. I went down there again to scout the area. There are so many places to ride there. Any range of difficulty you want. From bunny trails to the real "Daniel Boon blazing trails" level. September will be good since the trees will be changing. Bud does not ride, but one of his friends does (but has no horse) so if we bring a spare, he might just act as a guide, if we want him too.
I really am looking forward to this.[grin]

Yep it was the gray, the filly is coming along nicely I just don't want to push her to hard & I think all that travel plus riding might be to much but maybe next time I can go.

Good luck with your filly. I hope next year she will be ready and you can come along. That would be great.[grin]

You have never met my husband have you!?  He does not fish, he will ride, is really into his reiners and cow horses.  He doesn't do a lot of the things that we do, which is good for me because he keeps me in perspective about a lot of things.  He has an extremely dry sense of humor and likes to start shit with people, will get your kids or spouses into trouble and has even gotten peoples dogs in trouble.  He doesn't like rednecks either.  Big pain in the butt if you ask me.  [evil]

Nope, never met him. How does he do with hillbillys? These folks are the "real McCoy" when it comes to being from the hills. I don't know if they would understand a "dry" sence of hummor. I have not seen them laugh too much at anything. They just kind of sit there and look at ya if they don't understand something. I went down there again this weekend, and you would not belive the areas to ride in. You can ride for as long or short a time as you want too. If you want to try some hills (and I do mean steep ones) you can or if you prefer level land, it is there too. About the middle of september would be a good time, since I have been told the colors around there are breathtaking. I am not going to promise anything, but if ya want, I may be able to find some real moonshine from some bootlegers. It is a dry county so it of course no one will know anything about it.[oops]

I have been down in that area, sold a horse to a pleasure person that owns a feeder sales in London and lives in Somerset.  They don't much cotton to strangers down in there and just over the line in Tennessee we were told at a restaraunt that we were not going to be served so we should just go ahead and go because we did not belong there?  How about that?  There are places like that in West Virginia also, Missouri, Arkansas and a couple of other places I have been.  Most of them don't understand the dry sense of humor either but I can usually get along because I sound like a hick with I talk.  Speaking of which you can buy land way cheaper in Missouri or Oklahoma.  If we end up buying something (I ain't holding my breath) then you would all be welcome to come and stay and ride anytime.

I can handle rougher trails but don't know if my old gelding is in shape for them, some moderate would be fun.  I hate to be on trails with ATV's as I have seen to many wrecks when you mix them with horses.

This sounds like it might be fun.  Not to late in Sept.  cause the snakes and bees are out then down there and the fire ants are marching northwards!  [eek]

Runninghorses.net's 1 Year Anniversary (since the new software and interface was implemented) is on Oct. 29, 2004.  Would be kinda neat to tie this ride in with our Anniversary! :)

Not too sure about that late in October. Maybe raining that time of year(of course, it has already rained a bunch) When it rains, you are stuck till it is over. How about the 18th and 19th of September? That way, we are not caught in Labor day traffic (lot of buckeyes that time of year with boats)and the trees should just start to be turning. It won't be hunting season yet, and the snakes and bees will be too busy to bother us (I hope). Have not seen any fire ants. I think they may be vacationing in California this year. As far as ATV's. We can stay on Buds farm if you like. He won't let them in while we are there. There are all kinds of places to ride and the two times I have been down there, have not seen one yet. As far as the "stranger" thing, we have an inside connection, I have kin from that area. (somerset anyway) Bud is a local, so if we get into trouble, I'll bring him up. I am the "cousin from the north". Ya know, one of thoses DAMN YANKEES! (Hehe)
Well, think it over and let me know. I need to use up my last vacation day and if I don't use it then, I want to use it up on a two day show. What do ya all tink?

[bounce]  A halloween party!?  At her house?  Yeah.  I am fairly open on the dates, maybe a big weiner roast get together and meet each other would be okay then we could finalize some bigger plans and have a big trail ride of our own like they do for the organized ones that they have?  I am open and agreeable to about anything

So how does everyone feel about the Sept 18th and 19th idea? Any definate takers? That way I can let him know soon.
Added to note, I hope I did not offend anyone from Ohio with the "buckeye" remark. That is how anyone from Ohio is refferd too. Seems that allot of folks from Ohio vacation in Somerset with their (really nice) boats at lake Cumberlin. Bud told me, "if you see a real nice truck and boat they are from Ohio". Any rusty trucks and boats are from Kentucky. We looked at the plates on the trucks and trailers and he was right.
