All right try to keep the laughing to a dull roar. I know i am a sucker but I cannot help it. We had a racoon get into the chicken house and take one of the hen's. Very sad day. Well a couple of nights later it went after another one and Cosmo Kramer the rooster got into the fray. When the husband and son got out there the coon had Cosmo by the head dragging him under the hen house and he was screaming bloody murder. Well the husband wacked the racoon with a golf club and he let go of Cosmo's head. Cosmo took off running. Now mind u this all went down while the husband was in his socks in his shorts, in a snow storm falling threw the fence of the chicken yard to save the rooster. Well for a couple of days Cosmo was fine then he stopped eating and got real weak. I moved him into the spare bedroom for some recovery time. It worked and he seemed to improve. He is infact still improving to the point he is realivily normal during the day able to run around the yard with the other chickens. However the moment it starts to get dark and he cannot see well he falls over like a boneless chicken breast. He is putty on the ground. He has no idea whats up or down winds his neck all up gets his wings tangled and is completely helpless. He looks like a pile of road kill. Well at first we would go get him and settle him into the chicken house with the other chickens. However every morning he would be in a tangled mess on the ground. So now he has his own box and bed in the spare bedroom that he sleeps in at night. the box helps him to hold it together. And the bed is my cats old cat bed he had to give it to cosmo he needs it more. Now everyone I know is laughing at me cuz my rooster sleeps in his own bed in the house in his own room. He does not make a mess, he is very well mannered and he doesn't get all tangled up anymore. In fact this morning at 7:15 am he let loose with his first attempt at a crow since his unfortunate event. Do you all think i am nuts too?
