I wanted to get everyone's advice on my shopping for a Supreme Champion prospect.  I need a young stud that has atlease 2 AAA (or better) ratings, has a race ROM, and has the confirmation to win grand champion in halter.  He has to be good minded to compete for ROM's in the other required classes (cow classes, rail classes, etc) too.  (He has to be sound too).

I have know idea how much money I will need to buy a stud like that.  I was looking at the sales results from the Heritage Mixed Sale, and I didn't see any consistancy.  They were going from $1,200 to $62,000!  There were only a few AAA studs.  I want to find out about how much money I will need to have before I go shopping.  If what I'm looking for is going to normally cost around $30,000 I don't want to bug people if I only have $10,000 saved up so far.

Then, I've looked all over the internet and haven't found a site that has horses race horses for sale.  I was hoping to come across something like dreamhorse.com but for race horses.  I've ordered AQHA's racing journal to see if I can find something in there.  Where is the best place to look for a prospect?

I know a ton about showing quarter horses, but I know very little about racing them which is why I'd like to find a Supreme Champion prospect that already has the racing qualifications out of the way.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Steffany

Subscibe to the Speedhorse racing magazine.  They always have stud horses listed for sale in their classifieds.  I would sell you my stud but I do not think he would be extemely competitve in the halter classes.  He is more "racey" in build than the QH halter confirmation build.  He would work in the other areas.
