Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Website Information / Re: New here how Do I ??
Hi Theresa,

Thanks for joining our community!  Getting your own pic on in your profile is fairly easy.  On the lefthand side of your screen you should see a menu.  Make sure you are logged in and under "Runninghorses.net" you will see a link to My Profile (above Memberlist and Logout).  Clicking on that will take you to the page that you first see when you Login.  That is your Personal Page.  Also included on that page is your own Web Office - including your own private Calendar, Contacts list, Tasks list, and a personal Journal for writing things to yourself.  (All those links are near the bottom.)

At the top of your Personal Page, right under the date displayed in red text, are 3 links.  View Profile, Edit Profile, and Logout.  This page you're looking at is NOT what others will see when they view your profile.  You can see THAT by clicking on the "View Profile" link.  To put your photo on there, however, you'll need to "Edit Profile".  Most of the stuff is fairly self explanitory, but if you scroll through down to the bottom there will be a selection for "Picture".  You can select one of the available pictures, or you can checkmark the box for "Use your Own Picture" and type in the URL to a photo that you already have online somewhere.  If you can't get that to work, let me know via a PM and I'll try to go in and help you.

The Yay or Neigh! should be accessible by a link in the Main Menu on the left side of your screen.  Once you click that link, it should take you right to the first picture to vote on.  In order to see the next picture, you have to place a vote.  You can also upload your own photo to be put into rotation.  There is a link underneath the photo voting scale that says "Click here to Submit your Photo".  Click that link and follow the directions.

If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask away!  And if you encounter any more problems just let me know!  I try and take care of things as soon as I can!  Thanks again for joining!

Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Barrels & Contesting / Does size REALLY matter?
I understand the theory that the taller the horse, the longer the stride, and therefore the faster he can run... but in all my experience I've always found the fastest barrel horses to be around 15 hands, give or take.  I used to ride English (H/J's), and being 5'9" (even when I was 13!) was always a little daunting when trying to find the right prospect for the job, but when I got into barrels, I ended up with a couple of 15 hand horses and have NEVER felt "too big" for them.  So why is it nowadays when you tell someone that your barrel horse is 14.3 and 1100# they balk at you and roll they're eyes?  I've had 5'3" gals tell me that he's too SMALL to be a barrel horse!!!  What's that mean?  To me, the smaller the better, and all that means is there's enough muscle to power the run and not too big as to not be able to get around the barrel!
