SOLOMON WON HIS FIRST TROPHY!!!!!!!!! His first 1st Place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! banana

I am so PROUD of him! It was a Trophy show so first place got trophies. He won 1st in Speed Barrels (or Texas Barrels, three barrels in a row you weave through) We ran a 10.1 something and won it by 3 seconds!   He also won first in Jackpot Poles.  He took 2nd in Pole Bending with a 31 something, 2nd in Cloverleaf with a 24 something, (it was a huge pattern too, I was proud of him) 2nd in Single Pole, (we just missed 1st by 1/2 a second) and 3rd in Jackpot Barrels with a 25 something.   winner

It was a good day! I am so proud of my boy! The pictures from my camera didn't come out very good, so I will post some good ones a friend took when she sends them to me.

No Pictures Please

*warning* i look really goofy in this picture. But it's one of my favorites.

Photographer:"Hey Solomon! You just won your first trophy!"

Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Barrels & Contesting / Re: was everyones barrel races rained out?
It has rained here all week long.  Today, it has not stop raining once.  It hasn't even let up at all.

I think my horses will need scuba gear pretty soon. Oh well, at least the swimming is good exercise for them!  lol

Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / General Horse Chat / Re: Bath Day!
Well....not as well as I had hoped.  grumble

I have been sick for the last few days, sad4, ear aches and sore throat.  I probably shouldn't have gone but whatever.  Solomon was really good at the show.  We warmed up well and all.  Then come the trouble.  We went in to the ring good! Heading for the first barrel, and I forgot  doh to use my legs.  They felt like jelly.  I asked him to turn and he slipped a little and he was done after that.  He is very aware of his footing and that arena sucks.  It is very slippery.  So he ran by the first barrel, i get him back, turn and head to the second.  That barrel was ok.  We head to the third and he just shut down, I dont blame him.  It has no footing, it is an arena for english and flat classes.

ANYWAY!  He wasn't being bad or fighting me, he just really didnt trust himself in that ring.  It was his first time out this year, and I didnt feel that well.  I scratched Poles and went home and went to bed!!!  countingsheep

Also, Noah was a brave boy.  He stayed home by himself all day long!!! He had the girls in the pasture next to him, but he said he didnt need them because he's a big boy now!!! He was glad to see Big Brother when he got home though.

Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / General Horse Chat / Bath Day!
I had half a day of work yesterday so I went to give Solomon a bath before this weekend.  (it was 74 degrees out!  eeka)

He looks so good, I cant believe how in shape he is already.  I wish I had brought my camera.

So after that I gave the baby his first hose lesson!  I haven't been able to do anything with the water/hose because of winter.  At first he was a little nervous, but didnt do anything bad.  5 minutes later he was standing still and letting me spray him all over with the hose. (Better than Solomon was  doh who would rather be sprayed in the face than anywhere else on his body) He did look a little pitiful afterwards lol!

After I put Noah and Solomon out with the other boys, the ones they will be spending the summer with in the big pasture.  It is three other geldings. An older appaloosa, Tonka, herdboss.  My other boy, Blue, low man on the totem pole but doesnt take any crap from anyone. And Nero, an obnoxious Saddlebred gelding, I think he is 4.  So Nero tried to chase the baby, and Solomon wouldnt have any of that.  He went over and broke them up and got between them.  Yay big brother!!!  Then Solomon was distracted and Nero went to chase him again, but this time Tonka got there before Solomon and broke it up.  Then Tonka chased Noah a bit just to set him in line.  Blue likes to hang out with Noah, but he doesnt want to play.  I think it is going to be a good herd for the baby.

Then they were all running together, and let me just say,  winner no one could keep up with Noah!  That little horse can MOVE!  Not only is he fast, but he is sure footed.  It was a little muddy from two days of rain and not once did he slip or trip.  I think, no, I KNOW he is going to be a great barrel horse!!!!!

I will let you know how this weekend goes, I wont have any pictures because I am going alone.

BTW- Noah will be 1 year next week.  He is a little over 550lbs (according to the weight tape) and he is just 14.2 at the withers and 14.3 at the rump.  Solomon is 16 hh and 1100 lbs.

Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / General Horse Chat / Re: Who's been riding?
That is very interesting, thanks for the link.

So how have you been?  We haven't seen much of you on here lately.  I am glad to see that you re back

No problem! Maine is an interesting state, if you dont live here!  lol9

I have been working a lot, and getting Solomon in shape.  Our first show is this Sunday!!!! Nothing big, just a fun show, but something to start out the year with.  I cant wait to get out and race this year. Solomon came so far last year, I just know he will do even better this year.

I took him in the arena the other day and just had two barrels around and we were loping around and I asked him to go to the barrel and he really hunted for it!!! Made me so happy.  headbang

12  Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / General Horse Chat / Re: Who's been riding?
OOO! OOO!! I have!!!! hello2  Well... i was.... until (later on in the story)

I took Solomon on a LONG trail ride last Friday, we rode for 6 hours.  It was a beautiful day, we went over a mountain and around a lake and down to a store for lunch.  It was a gas station, so when we were riding back out people were looking at us weird and I said, "Gas prices are too high! These guys are easier to fuel!"  It was really funny.

Here is Solomon, already getting buffed out.

Look at that butt!!!!

The baby will be a year old in a few weeks.   occasion15
(he is still a little shabby with his winter coat/baby fur) But I think he looks good!

Look at that beautiful tail!

And Butt!!!

His forelock is so curly!

I had a mishap at work.  A recently gelded stallion thought I may taste good, which I am sure I do but!  Long story, this will be the summary.

13  Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / General Horse Chat / New Pictures of Noah!
New pictures!  Noah will be 10 months old in two weeks, and he is 14 hand high!  Also, Solomon will be 8 on March 20th! birthday09

Look how long his mane is getting!

Now I have a question about this.  He is starting to get white around his girth area and under his chest.  He is half paint, do you think this means he will roan out some?

Now thats a mouth full!

His tail is getting really long too.

I know, this is a horrible picture, but because hes a baby it is too cute!

"Alright Ma, thats enough, let me eat!"

15  Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Off the Wall / Re: Batten down the hatches!!!
We are getting that "artic blast" here.  It is 6 degrees here, with the windchill they say it is -17

We had that bad wind yesterday. Blew trees down everywhere. Two on my street landed on peoples houses (not big trees) and a lot of trees in the road.

I glad you guys made out ok!
