Yeah, it's weird though because she's just been a broodmare & "company" horse for the past 3 years. Hopefully she'll get over herself by the summer lol.

Val, I'm working on a FB account right now, well that and clothes shopping for a wedding I have to go to next month. Shea's just so damn sensitive and wants to GO...any excuse to run. A big change from when she first came, I don't know if it's because at her old home she basically just had a corral & a small grass area and here she has more room?

Wild, I'm around just hurting a bit. We decided to take advantage of the weather & ride Shea, Jeremy did great but I ended up eating dirt. My fault, I am going to have to find someone around here that gives lessons to teach me how to ride lighter in my legs and hands. I know that's where I'm going wrong just don't know how to fix it on my own.
School started back up today and that means football conditioning starts too. Ah well the break was nice while it lasted!

Val, have a safe trip!!!!
Wild, sooo cute!!!!! Cathy got Mack's taken but I haven't gotten to see them yet, I'm hoping she got a copy for me. Definitely gotta post pix of Miss Fran when she gets home, especially whenever you get to ride!
We didn't do presents this year other than the saddle for Jeremy, but my dad sent him $100 so he went clothes shopping at Old Navy & Aeropostale. He did great with the sales going on- everything was 50-75% off. OH!!!!!! The school bought all the jocks their varsity jackets put their letters on them, they gave them out last Friday. The boy is thrilled- wears it everywhere LOL.
George's check came today & I went grocery shopping...it took me almost THREE hours to get food and out of the store, 45 minutes in the check out line alone ugh!!! Then Jeremy & I went to the feed store, they started carrying round bales for $45 so I told them to set me up for 2 a month. They're big ones so I should get about two weeks from each one.
Tomorrow we're running up to the library & then I need to stop by the pharmacy. George is having issues with the new med combo & I wan to see if maybe he starts taking them seperately if it'll help or not.

OMG I wish I'd known, heck we'd have come up with some cash for her. That's weird though, never had any trouble with her and fences.
Yep, the fireplace is what sold George on his house when we were looking. It's a nice big one, when there's a good fire going it heats up the den/dining room/kitchen, the bathroom & tthree bedrooms on that end. So we just stay on that side of the house lol!
It wasn't too bad, the power was off for a while but then came on so whatever it was must have been an easy fix. One winter somebody took out some poles on 31-W and our power was out for almost 3 days- that got old real quick.
So Wild, what was for dinner?
I was lazy & just did tomato soup and grilled cheese for us.

Val, we are iced in right now with about 4 inches of snow on top & more freezing rain coming, yuck. The power keeps flickering so that just ices the cake. Luckily I have this distrust of weathermen so made sure we brought in plenty of extra firewood before it hit even though they were saying it wouldn't be too bad...that may end up paying off big time if the electric goes off for any extended time.
So HH got Sissy sold? Wish I could have afforded her asking price when she was down here, really liked that little mare. I've ridden Shea a couple of times when time/weather have co-operated. I *really* have to watch what I do on her, she's almost too responsive. She'll definitely improve my riding skills lol. I am having to change how I feed her though, dropping the regular feed & putting her on straight beet pulp and plain grass hay. The alfalfa mix hay I got from the feed store plus feed makes her way too hot.
I'll have to go check out your FB page! And YAY for getting paid during Christmas break!!!!!!!!!!
Okay getting off here before I lose what I typed, back when things calm down-

No plans here, going to sleep late & enjoy having a day where I don't have to drive George somewhere LOL. My buddy Mike's picking Jeremy up the day after to take him deer hunting- the free youth hunt is the weekend after Christmas & it's Jeremy's last year to be eligible.
Val, definitely looking forward to pix of your stock, yours seemed to grow into such good users.

8 Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Off the Wall / So I'm Gonna Do Something Nice for the Boychild...
Yep, I think I am. So bear with me, a bit of info then my point. A while back I won $50 on the lottery & used it to order Jeremy's Christmas present- an autographed Payton Manning picture. Well it turned out to be a "bad" listing, had to file a thing w/Paypal, blah blah blah. It got settled fine, I got my money back but it left me without a good gift for him.
The first of October I found out I'd won the Horse City monthly contest, first prize a brand new saddle. Since we found out Jeremy has been so excited- 2 saddles will mean we can ride together & that idea seems to make him very happy.
We'd go look at the saddles on the High Horse website. I keep looking at a gorgeous show saddle but noticed he kept going back to this one and kinda drooling:
http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=6820/468.2.22293.11067.0.0.0
HC emailed me this morning with the phone number to call and tell them which saddle I want so they can get it ordered and sent.
After some thinking I decided screw the show saddle, I'm ordering this one for the boy. I'll use the black saddle that we already have if I do show Shea. Palominos look better in black anyway. And I'm thinking about the look on his face when he realizes it's his, it'll be cool.
I just called the lady at HC and took care of it, the saddle has to be made, then it'll be sent out with arrival on January 19th. I think I'll print a picture of it & wrap it up in a big ol' box for the kid to open Christmas morning...so my one nice deed for the year, it'll ruin my mean old woman image if it gets out, huh?

9 Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Off the Wall / Re: Where is Turnin Burnin Buddy, Shannon and Horse Happy?
Wild, I hear ya on going back to work! LOL- that's one reason I try to schedule George's PT appointments for 8am. At least 3 days a week we're up & functioning early.
If the land prices had been this high 5 years ago we never could have bought, heck at the time I griped about what we paid but it was an easy drive to Louisville from here & that's where I was working at the time. I think if we were looking now we'd be looking around where my friend Mike lives, you can still get property cheap down there. (usually under $2000 an acre)
Thanks for the hugs. I'm REALLY hoping WC gets his new meds approved this week- ambien & cymbalta. Doc says that it'll help his depression some and that those 2 combined with the neurontin will (hopefully) allow him to sleep longer than a couple hours at a time.
Next summer we'll for sure have to find a halfway point & spend a weekend riding! I've got access to a trailer now...just have to practice pulling it first.

10 Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Off the Wall / Re: Where is Turnin Burnin Buddy, Shannon and Horse Happy?
Val, they are slapping up new houses left & right down here- even though a number of builders have filed bankruptcy. And not cheap ones either, average price is right at $200,000. We paid $40,000 for our land, the lots that are still available are going almost double that- and most of them are only 2 acres. The thing down here is Ft. Knox. For 3 years they've been saying that due to BRAC there will be a buttload of incoming soldiers and (supposedly) a ton of civilian jobs...it ain't happened yet but the fools are still building like crazy even though most of the new construction is either sitting empty with a for sale sign or lived in for a while then put up for sale because the owners can't afford the payments. You know the area where you hauled that filly to down here? Prices out by there have jumped to over $25,000 an acre from this, there's a 300 acre section for sale at *gulp* $50,000 an acre!
You asked about George in the other thread. He's not doing too well. We went to the pain management specialist in Louisville last week. He did some basic tests and afterwards came in & told us he disagrees with the CRPS diagnosis. He thinks the accident triggered the onset of fibromyalgia. He also feels like George is suffering from PTSD & depression (like I hadn't figured that out already) so we are in the process of more doctors, tests and appointments to confirm everything. First up is a bone scan on Tuesday. We also have an appointment next week with an attorney who came very highly recommended. I'd called & talked to his assistant, gave her the basics and she told me if he was interested in taking the case they would call. Sure enough she called Friday & we're juggling schedules to get in there ASAP.

11 Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Off the Wall / Re: Where is Turnin Burnin Buddy, Shannon and Horse Happy?
Val, my opinion- company is nice but it's even nicer when they go home LOL. I'm keeping my mouth shut (as hard as that is), I figure at some point Cathy'll wake up and smell the coffee. They stopped by today so she could drop off Jeremy's Christmas gifts & he got mad at her for taking the baby out of the car seat and made all sorts of snotty comments to her while they were here...she'll come to her senses eventually.
I figure Jeremy graduates in two years & will go off to college. George & I have been talking about leaving KY at that point, or at least getting the heck out of where we're at. Too many houses/subdivisions going up. The big farm behind us sold, supposed to be 200 houses going up back there in the next year or two- UGH. When we first moved here there was no traffic or anything the way it is now we might as well be in Louisville!
Wild, glad you got to ride! Now we need pix!!!!
Turnin- Good to see ya woman! You still working out of town or are ya back home now?
Ramsey, if see this- HI!!!!!

12 Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / General Horse Chat / Re: Newbie!
Val, the guys got me a new horse for my birthday. 16yo AQHA mare, a hair over 15h, palomino with a few bay spots on her, DNA tested, HYPP N/N. Registered as "Countess Baronet" but we call her Shea.
Here's the link to her pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/countess+baronet
She's trained better than any horse we've ever had here. I really have to watch myself, she works off leg cues at a touch and you have to be easy on the reins. All the horses we've had before were kick-kick-kick to get 'em to move & plow reiners- can't do that with her LOL! I was going to try doing western pleasure on her at some of the little local things but I'm finding out she can seriously run...she's loving having the big pasture for turnout, sometimes she'll run just because. I thought Snowman was fast, she leaves him eating her dust.

15 Welcome to Runninghorses.net Forums! / Off the Wall / Re: Where is Turnin Burnin Buddy, Shannon and Horse Happy?
Well now I know why I was in such a crappy mood when I posted...stupid pre-menopause. Woke up at 3am w/awful cramps & though "AHA! That's why I was so bitchy today" LOL
Supposedly George's check will be here by Sat. We'll see. I went ahead & set up an appt with the workers comp attorney who was recomended to us & got the paperwork printed up to apply for social security disability for him too.
I dug through the freezer today & decided we're doing a deer roast for Thanksgiving . The weather is supposed to be fairly decent Thursday, Jeremy asked if he could ride for a while before we eat Thanksgiving dinner. He doesn't ask often so I said shoot yeah!
I think a big reason I'm stressed over Cathy is I'm afraid she's going to do something stupid like marry this guy. If she does that she loses the state paying for her to get her nursing degree & all the other benefits. I just see her falling into the same trap I did at that age & it scares the crap out of me. I know, they have to make their own mistakes but I don't want to see her have to go through it.
Off to snarf down some Midol, be back later today I'm sure.
