im here also, just got back to work tonight after 6 days off. I have not had time to even get close to a computor.   Friday night a friend of mine came by and let me and Cash hitch a ride with her to a local play day. I just did slow work on Cash, we trotted and loped around the barrels, and he ran a 20.01, and a 16.7 won....Gosh just think what we would have done if we were running...LOL  I got back to the trailer and unsaddled him and them dang dry spots were there. So I was glad i did not run him.  I had an old timer tell me a few days ago to take a spray bottle and wet the areas that are staying dry, and this would cause him from getting sore. Well gullible me I am gonna try it, till i can get another saddle.  I have several in mind, either a sherry Cervi or a marlene eddleman, or a cecil phillips from shiloh saddlery special made.  I am just not gonna run get the first thing that comes along this time. uh oh got off subject didnt I, i went to rambling. Lets See, Saturday  I rode both my horses on trails at home. Sunday rode Cash but it got to hot before I could get Pistol rode. Then Monday I Rode Cash again before having to mow and weedeat my lawn. Tuesday I had Dr's Appointment, nothing wrong just a checkup. Wednesday i Cut Hay, and today i had to clean house, do laundry, try and get a couple of hours of sleep so i could work tonight, and then i raked hay while hubby baled. we put up 83 round 4x5 bales today. THEN i came to work to rest...LOL

Well TBB sounds like you are at least playing with the horses.  But you sound like me, not quite sure what you have been doing.  LOL

Shannon - looking for a new job?  I thought you were managing your own store now?  What the heck happened there.  Also HH wants you to call her when you get a chance.

Clover - I want to haul somewhere even if it is just to ride my horse around and visit with my buddies.  We need about 80 more round bales to make it through the winter.

Now if we can just hear from the rest of the people

OH MY!  You guys are alive!  I have been so lonley without you all!  I check the site 3 times a day just to see if anyone has posted!!!

Lets see what have I been doing......  Feeding the horses, cleanning stalls, sitting in the AC, stripping boarder in my bathroom and thats about it (oh we did load 54 bales of hay on Tuesday)!  I live a boring life I know!  I wanted to ride last night, or at least work with the horses but it rained and we had company, ssssoooo....  It's been to freaking hot for me to do anything outdoors!  I have gotten used to working all day in the AC! ::)  By the time it cools down in the evenings I have lost my energy!  Stripping boarder is a pain in my ass!  I am hoping to have it done by Sunday so me and mom can start painting.  Won't take me no time to paint it, I can't wait for it to be done!  Oh and we FINALY set our vacation date!  We are taking off the week of Labor Day, not going anywhere to special.  We will probably just go trail riding a couple diffrent close places and the rest of the time spend at home!  This will be Matt and I's first "Vacation" together other than our honeymoon.

Val- I am ready to go to a show too!  There is a barrel race in the next town over that I wanted to go to August 12th but we signed up for a Shriners Trail Ride instead that day.   Scout isn't ready for barrels but it was just a 4H show so i was just gonna go and use it as a training type thing.  Instead he will get to go trail riding! ;D  Have you been riding any?  How is HH doing?  Any updates?

Shannon- yeah spill it about the job!  Congrats to Kathy!  Is she back home, or is she still with your aunt?  How is George feeling?  Any luck finding Sunny?   How is Doc, is he getting big?

Turnin- too funny about Robert!  Just wait till he gets big mud tires on it!  Keep him away from my husband!  He will have him beefing it up faster than you can say git-r-done! ;D

Clover- HOLY COW :o  You have been a busy gal!

Well I *was* managing...then had a bad week (during the county fair) where I worked almost 80 hours between people calling in, leaving early and just plain old not showing up. It all came to a head on the last day when money came up waaay off along with my gas totals, called my district manager & she went off because A) things were off and B) I hadn't gotten the computer stuff done and sent in yet. Well it's kind of hard to be on the computer when you're stuck at the cash register & I pointed that out to her. When she got to the store she jumped my butt because one night when I finally left I had to stop at the grocery. My cell phone doesn't work in there & apparently the cashier working had called about something stupid, couldn't get me so called the DM instead. I explained that my cell doesn't pick up inside Krogers and she got snippy, said then I needed to get a new phone. I just kind of saw red. Called George & discussed it with him, he's tired of the phone ringing all night and me coming home about to snap so I went and gave the DM my keys. Told her I'd stay on as cashier but I would not be manager. Her comment was "Fine, you weren't my first choice anyway, anybody else would have gotten all this learned in a week and not still be bugging me with problems." Well fine, whatever. So she made one of the little 18yo's the new manager and they gave me a week off as punishment I guess. I'm supposed to go back on Sunday but I won't stay long, I've been applying like crazy everywhere I can.

Cathy is back at home, has been for about 3 or 4 weeks. Serious issues with both my aunt and the people she was staying with. I have found out some things about these people that truly make me regret letting her go there. They are NOT what they represent themselves to be and have managed in the process to convince my aunt that Cathy is a horrible person, they almost had me convinced as well. The funny thing is that George of all people was the one who stood firm and said she would NEVER have done the things she was accused of. Sad to say it reached the point where we had to pay for Cat to take a lie detector test to disprove several allegations made against her. The guy who gave the test assured us that she passed, we're still waiting to hear from the sheriffs department about what happens now.
I'm a little worried because the husband involved in this grew up here, went to school or is related to half the people on the sheriffs dept. or at the courthouse and is a close personal friend of the sheriff. We'll see how that goes.
The other shitty thing about this is that it looks like they will be allowed to take Dallas back after all the money and work we've put into bringing him back to decent health. Stupidly I lost the paper saying they were giving ownership to us, their story now is that they just loaned him to us while Cathy stayed with them. George is totally pissed about this, both because of the money and time we've put in and because Dallas is the only horse I've been able to ride in a long, long time.
Damn it feels good to finally put all that down in writing, haven't really been able to talk to anyone other than George about it.
No luck on Sonny but I haven't had much time to look lately. George is doing alright. Still coughing up blood but not as bad as he was. Tried to get him to switch to another company where he wouldn't have to unload but he won't leave Hardins.

Val, I'll try to call HH tonight or tomorrow, I got her phone number off her DH ads since I couldn't find it here anywhere.

Good god I am boring.

Wild   Keep your husband far far away...He has changed the trany fluid and wants to change the oil.  He has new Cowboy up floor mats and a flaming ford thing on the windshield.  Since changing tranny fluid the damn truck goes like a bat outa hell. :nailgun:  Last thing I needed...

The parents are back from Greece.  My mother is furious with their cruise line.  They gave her food poisoning, then quarintined her for 48 hrs to her cabin cause they thought she might have the norwok virus.  She was really really sick.  Then when she was better and able to go ashore they pulled her outa line and told her she was confined to her cabin and she couldnt go.  They forgot to take her off the list.  So needless to say she was pissed off plenty cause all the other passangers were there when she got yanked outa line.  I kinda giggle but yet she did miss the greek isles and Turkey two of the main reasons she went on the trip.

Shannon management sucks butt especially in the situation they put u in.  Thats bull sh#t!!!!!!!  Tell them to kiss your carkass and walk.  I wish I could get out but everytime I try I have been unsucessful.  The new location helps but I am still so nervous I am gonna get yelled at for no good reason its really weird.  I am doing things I NEVER was aloud to do at the other location.  Its great.  Whats really funny is I have been at this location for like a month.  The sales this week are possibly gonna beat the #1 store in the company for the first time in like 4 years!!!!!!  That would be a browny point for me.

TBB brownie points are good, way to go  :clap2:

Your truck must be fixed huh?  :o

I think all of us should get together and move to Missouri, I found a strip mall with a mom and pop grocery, beauty shop, 7 rental apartments and a gas station.  There are several cheap properties nearby and we could run barrels and those that like to trail ride, well that is trail riding heaven

Shannon, are you going to have to give Dallas back?  I am so sorry to hear about that.  I thought possession was 9/10ths of the law, so to speak.  Also, sorry to hear about your daughter's problems.  It always seems like it pours.  Okay we are all ready for some good luck for awhile now.

Title: Re: And everybody is where?
Post by: 1Wildcowgirl on August 06, 2006, 06:04:36 PM
Shannon- that is terrible.  I am so sorry Kathy is going though this.  I hope she is doing ok with everything.  Thank god she is home now and hopefully get things back to "normal".  Too bad about Dallas, you can hide him up our way if you want!  Stand your ground, they gave him to you and you have nothing to prove that he isn't your horse.

Turnin- Did you say Brownies? :eat:  Thats it get a plane ticket it's time for your vacation! ;D

Val- I think that sounds like a great idea!  I have always wanted to work at a mom and pop store!lol!  So are you getting excited to go on your trip?  It sounds fun and exciting!  Mom and Dad came down yesterday and saw Fran and Shot for the first time.  They really liked them both!

Title: Re: And everybody is where?
Post by: Shannon on August 07, 2006, 01:05:14 AM
Nope, the 9/10ths possession thing doesn't work apparently. The sheriff handling the case has told me we can try hiring a lawyer to fight giving Dallas back but that we probably won't have any luck. Hell the past couple of weekends we've had to deal with them driving up and down our road & stopping in front of our house and one day the woman involved riding one of her other horses up and down our property line screaming for Dallas to come to her. She hauled ass up the road when big George came flying out the door. I called the law and was told that it's a public road so I can't do anything. Well we're the last house on a dead end road, IMO they have NO business on it! Tried to get a restraining order but because no physical threat has been made we can't get one.

I decided that if they could play dirty I could to so I tried getting the guy in charge of large animals at animal control to go over to their place. I did the research, the rule is 1 acre of land for the first horse & a half acre for each additional horse. They have 3 horses in a ROUND PEN, that's where these horses have lived for at least 2 or 3 years, almost knee deep in old horse poop because it's NEVER been cleaned out. The round bales they feed are years old, moldy and disgusting, not fit to be fed to any animal. Even though he assured me he would not be influenced by the fact that they are friends with the head sheriff (their next door neighbor) I guess that wasn't true because now he won't even look at me & is never available to talk to me.

I'm just tired of it, George is tired of it and he really does not need the stress. We've proved that Cathy is not a thief (she was accused of stealing a tractor, weedeater, chain saw, 10 mens shirts, jewelry, electrical equipment, etc.) and we've proved their other much worse claim against her was false as well thank God. I would like to think they are investigating the woman over that charge but I'm not going to hold my breath. As much as we've sunk into Dallas & as good of a horse he is we've just about reached the conclusion that it would be easier if we just send him back, maybe that will end some of the harassment. Right now he needs his teeth floated badly, that's going to run close to $200 & I'll be damned if I am going to pay that if the law is just going to tell us we have no claim of ownership...I know that sounds bad because Dallas is the one who will suffer. We've been told we cannot move him anywhere. George suggested telling them he died but I am quite sure we'd have to produce a body to prove it so that's out...Sorry to go on like this but I really don't have anyone else to talk to about it.

BTW now that y'all have got me thinking brownies I guess I'll pick up some mix when I go to the grocery in a bit LOL.

Post by: valerie on August 07, 2006, 08:42:15 AM
Geez Shannon, I didn't realize it had gotten so bad with Cathy.  The horse thing, I know a little about because I have dealt with rescues before and you usually have to give them back.  Always get a bill of sale on those type of things.  Let him go back, life is short and you can find another one out there for you.  Those people will get theirs in the end

Title: Re: And everybody is where?
Post by: Shannon on August 07, 2006, 10:02:01 AM
Val, well it didn't get bad with Cathy until she decided she couldn't deal with their issues anymore and wanted to come back home. Saying they did not take that well is putting it mildly, they didn't like losing their live-in maid & nanny. I NEVER should have allowed her to move in with them but I thought they were normal, okay people...they sure had me fooled.

Maybe at least if we give him back we can get back to normal here, instead of jumping up every time a car comes down the road or one of the outside dogs starts barking. It just pisses me off that chances are these people will get away with everything they have done. Part of me wants to fight, I don't know that we'll ever find us another as good as this one but the *sensible* part of me says give up before things escalate even worse.

HOLY SHAT!  Shannon that is some crazy stuff.  I agree with Val, life is too short.  Give the horse back, unless they are willing to sell you the horse.  You are just upsetting your self more by having these people "stalk" you and your family.  Pro longing it is only making it worse.  If they want the horse back make them come get him at a set time.  However if they step foot on your property with out your permission I would call the cops for tresspassing.  It may not seem like it now but they will get theirs.  One day they will piss someone off and it will all come around to bite them in the butt......

You will find another one that is just as good for you.  It may take awhile but there is another out there with your name on it.

I agree with everyone else give them the horse with bells on.  Hope to hell they chock on one of the bells.

If they continue to harass you the best thing is to try to ignore it.  Cause it sounds like if you fire back they have people in the right places on their side and you'll end up in more trouble.

Post by: Shannon on August 10, 2006, 01:50:13 AM
Oh y'all are ba-aaaa-ad in the best way LOL! However events of the last couple of days have made me decide to just wave the white flag and surrender.

1) somebody threw a large gob of hamburger with glass chunks and gravel in it in our front yard. Gee, I wonder who??? the empy Marlboro Red 100 box in the yard gives a big hint being as I don't smoke Marlboros and the family across the road doesn't smoke at all but guess who DOES smoke them? Damn good thing the dogs only go out on leashes since the hawk incident.

2) found out that these people were at the county fair telling everyone who knows us that we stole Dallas from them and that we are starving him to death. Never mind that he's actually put on weight since we've had him and would put it on faster were he not a dedicated cribber who also needs his teeth floated. (which BTW we had planned on doing until WD got sick and cost us a small fortune at the vet)

3) this morning I wake up to a completely flat tire on my Blazer & the little thingy that covers the air nozzle laying on the ground.

What really sucks is that after doing some digging I found out that this is not the first time she's pulled this on a kid. I've talked to two other families who went through something similar with them but were too intimidated to push it with the police like we have and they will not give any kind of statement to the law about it. I've called the officer in charge about the hamburger, the talking about us & the flat tire today and he doesn't seem real interested so screw it. I give up, they win. Hopefully karma will come back and bite them ion the butt HARD.

these people need help!!!!  I do belive this would make an excelent episode of Jerry Springer.  That way u could throw a folding chair at them and still get a free vacation in NY.

Title: Re: And everybody is where?

OMG Shannon!  They are gonna make me pull out "the big guns" and they are NOT gonna like what I have for them.  I will need a brown paper bag, lighter, and a shit the size of an elephant!

Wave the white flag, give the horse back.  It's not worth it.  Hopefully though once you give the horse back they will stop harrassing you.

Title: Re: And everybody is where?
Post by: Shannon on August 10, 2006, 10:57:25 PM
I will need a brown paper bag, lighter, and a shit the size of an elephant!

You know between the golden retriever and the rottie I CAN provide a shit like that...

I made my plan last night. I need a "middle party" to walk the horse over to them. I'm going to insist it be one of the two women who run the horse rescue here in the county. That way I can explain what Dallas needs done, THEY can explain it to these asses. And they can also see the living conditions of their horses. They've really gotten things rolling as far as equine abuse cases around here and getting animal control to do something about it so I think it's a pretty good plan for all the 4-leggers involved.

Wow we are talkin some serious pooooooop......

I agree make sure the "rescue"  people see what the horse is being turned over to.  I will tell u up here that would not fly.  The animal control people would have a field day with these people.

Title: Re: And everybody is where?
Post by: Shannon on August 11, 2006, 10:56:39 AM
Horse abuse down here has always been kind of blown off until early this spring. A guy starved a colt to death & one of the newspaper writers made a 3 part series about it and how often it occurs, it's always been a dirty little secret, you know? Everyone knows but nobody talks about or God forbid DOES anything about it. Anyway that got the ball rolling & a rescue strictly for horses got set up. Animal control itself down here is kind of a joke. Only 2 guys for the WHOLE county if you can imagine. Pretty sad when you figure we're one of the bigger counties in the state.

On a lighter note, would you believe little 12 pound WD whooped a 55 pound rottweiler pup tonight? Had him pinned and down by the throat! Seems WD got jealous of George petting Hank (the rott) and decided to show him who runs this place. Poor Hank then tried to hide under the couch and got his big butt stuck LOL.

Hello everybody!

Tis the season for long hot days in the barns and evenings just trying to cool off. No time for computers.... wait till the winter comes then its on line to keep company and out of the cold to sit in front of a cozy computer screen.

Animal control around here goes to the other extreme they tend to over react sometimes.  For the most part they stay on top of everyone real well.

Good day to marebear.  Hope your have n fun.

Hi Marebear!

Do you have a Rottie Shannon?

Hi Marebear!

Sadly, yes. He was NOT supposed to stay, it was supposed to temporary. Some friends of a friend had a litter of Rottie pups & had trouble selling them. (I think because they're trying to pass a town ordinance banning certain dogs- pits, rotts, etc)
Anyway they finally got down to two pups, my friend took one & the last one was going to the pound. Our pound only keeps dogs for 7 days before they put them down and well, he was so damn cute! I brought him home thinking surely we could find somebody wanting one...well you know how THAT goes, once they move in and get a name that's it.

I knew as soon as George named him I was screwed. His name is Hank, we've had him a month so he's 4 months old now. His daddy was the biggest Rottweiler I've ever seen and Hank's definitely following in his pawprints. And he eats like a horse LOL!
He's a sweet dog although not the sharpest crayon in the box. He's finally caught on to housebreaking- 3 days so far with no inside incidents- YAY!!!! The WeinerDog bosses him up terribly which is kinda sad to see.

So we're at 4 dogs right now: WD & Bonnie, the wieners; Levi the Golden Retriever and Hank.

Aw Shannon!  A rottie!  They are sweet dogs!  We have 2!  They are our trail riding dogs!  They need a firm, but gental hand and arn't as bad as what everyone thinks.  I will tell you they will go through 2 puppy stages.  Once you think you have it licked, bam back to the puppy stage!  I have picked up many bags of trash no thanks to Ruger. ::)  Molly is my girl though, she thinks she is a lab and loves the water.  She sounds alittle like Hank (not the brightest crayon), but is a big old baby!  They say the females tend to be more vocal (as far as barking) than the males and in our case that has proven to be true.  I would love to see some pictures of him! ;)

Wild, I've been around a lot of Rotts and the ones I've known have always been darn good dogs. Hank's not a barker but he "talks" to me a lot- groans, warbles, it's very odd. He's my buddy which WD does not like at all LOL. Right now we're working on chewing. I've got a big thick rope for him & have to redirect his attention to that from chair legs, etc. And the fact that he likes to chew on my hand when I pet him!

Here's a pic from when we first got him:

He is too cute Shannon!  Our male rottie is a talker also!  He is always grumbling.

Aww what a doll baby!  I'm really proud of my Akita rescue.  She did really well with all the other dogs on our trail ride a couple weeks ago (Wild's rotties were there and another friend's aussies were there).  Aside from falling off a 30 foot cliff things were great!  LOL!  And then just this morning, she made me proud again too!  She's not much of  barker, will bark occasionally.  The Jack and the BC will bark more at us to say "HEY do something" but she'll just look at me and 'talk'- warble, grumble, etc.  I think it's cute.  Well just a few min. ago she started really barking, so I jumped up and looked in the direction she was barking in - there was a strange silver chevy driving by our driveway really slow (casing the joint out???) I dunno but I'm glad Ty was here!!!

Ramsey- I love Akitas, that's what we had when I was little & Dad was stationed in Japan. I'm hoping Hank will be my "guard buddy" as he gets older. The doxies bark at anything & the golden would probably let ANYBODY come on in the house. With George gone so much that's not very reassuring!

TBB- if ya'd asked after we first got him I might have sent him your way LOL! Now if I can interest you in a cat that thinks it's a dog we might be able to work something out...

A cat that thinks its a dog huh?   well I got a cat that thinks he's god so I don't know what i'd do with one that thinks he's a dog.  Its actually kinda funny.  Ol greg brady the cat walks around like he is king all the time.  Then I let demsey (the very dumb basset)   loose and he uses poor greg as his personnal hump toy and licking stick puts him right back in the proper frame of mind for oh 5 or 10 minutes.

LOL I forgot about Demsey-the-hump-hound, that story cracked me up!

Wild, I think the OIC's hands are pretty well tied. Just tired of the BS and everything else. Tried to talk to the principal about my kids not being able to ride the bus because they don't feel safe. He said if their kids start a fight if mine defende themselves they'll get suspened. So will the others but why should mine have to get the snot beat out of them in the process? Cathy's thinking about switching to night school at the high school just to get away from the crap. Nothing much we can do short of scraping up the money for a lawyer. So the OIC is going to use the horse as a bargaining chip...you'll get the horse back if these things stop. We'll see, I'm not going to hold my breath.

TBB I am sincerely hopeful that karma will decide to come play. Nothing would make me happier at this moment!
The job search is looking guardedly optimistic. I have another appointment with Nielsen, hoping that's a good sign. They just opened their new expansion and are hiring 500 people. $8 an hour to call people and ask what they think about various TV shows is sounding REAL good to me!
I wanted some chickens but George said no. He's poultry prejudiced. :nailgun:

Cosmo is one HUGE  chicken.  I got no Idea what he is he looks like the corn flakes rooster.  He towers over the hens.  But its so funny cuz they still kick his ass if he gets outa line.  He also has not fully developed the crow.....

I would love to get some Chickens, but I don't want them wondering about.  They need to be in a pen so I don't have to hunt for there eggs!

Shannon- keep us posted on everything and if you need me to come down with my flamming bag of poo i will!
