Title: Got my Christmas present early
Post by: valerie on December 11, 2007, 08:53:17 PM
:blob10:  Surprise me, Gary bought me the little sorrel filly that Sid was racing this year as a Christmas present!  She is on the all breed pedigree as First Rime.  She has a speed index of 85 earned a little over 10,300 on the track and is sound.  She has a real good mind and Gary said he figured I could go ahead and start her on barrels since Bossy is only coming 2 and I don't want to start her until she is 3 (more than likely won't break her until late summer).   I think he knows I really don't want to move and he is thinking this will help with the weight loss program.  LOL, who cares, I got a new one

I am so happy Val thats so cool.  So how old is she?  I been trying to drop weight I stop soda and lost 10 pounds but then everything came to a screeeeeching halt.  I am totally watching what I eat at work.  No more pancakes and chicken fried steaks its flipping oatmeal and grapefruit.  Seriously I may choke on oatmeal soon.

Turn, she is 3 coming 4 and is broke for the track.  I have put a western saddle on her yesterday but she is still tight from racing.   Losing the weight thing is easier if you try for smaller like 1/2 to 1 pound a week.  That way you don't have to change your lifestyle so much and it will stay off.  So far I have lost a total of 15 pounds from Feb and only 50 more to go.

Gary still needs to have bad things said about him.  Poor Sissy will have to be sold and that bothers me because she is basically a cripple but she has so much heart and try to her.  I mean she never balks about going in the arena, never hits a barrel unless you pull her into it and she tries all she can.  Most horses aren't that honest.  Girl I bought her from said she always figured she was slow because she couldn't run and I told her physically she can't run.  Pityful to watch her in the pasture try to run.  I am hoping to sneak and breed her to Sun Tzu and try to make a broodie out of her but we all know how that goes.

I will try to get some pictures of Rime and post when my camera decides to work with me.

Why is that mean ol Gary making you sell Sissy!  He always makes you sell the ones you like (Ziggy, Shot, Fran...) :bash:  Do you think she would make a kids horse?  Is she only hot in the areana?

Sissy isn't hot but all business, no circles for her in the arena, run through the gate and she goes.  Most horses that hurt that much either won't go in or blow up at the barrels.  She tries to work and do what you ask.  Hate to see her used for anything really when I know both her hocks are basically gone and she will still try for someone.  Gary said when one comes on the property one needs to leave.  Sigh, guess I will have to see what I can do about that one
