Title: Thanksgiving Plans
Post by: 1Wildcowgirl on November 15, 2007, 12:32:38 AM
Anyone have any?  We are going to Matts family.  Some of you may know that Matts sister and brother married brother and sister.  So this year I guess we are having one big Thanksgiving.  We both arn't really looking forward to it.  Too many people, and there family isn't really our family, if that makes sence.  But we will roll with it!  As long as there is mashed potatos and cranberry sause it's all good!

Yeah Val that is alittle od! LOL!  Whats your favorite side dish?

Rams- Tacos sound good!  Will there be margaritas too????

Matt some how got roped into possibly deep frying a Turkey.  Apperently his dad is flipping out, there is going to be 20 people.  He thinks we need 2 turkeys, a turkey breast and a ham! :o  Geez, you will have to roll us all outta there!  After talking with his dad on the phone last night, Matt hangs up and says, I'm getting drunk at Thanksgiving!  I just LOL at him!  Ain't nothin like a family gathering!

Well when I fix turkey the skin is really brown.  Oh good grief 20 people is not that many, we have way more than that at Gary's family get togethers.  We do one big huge bird, a ham, cook both at the same time on a much lower heat, like 325 and that is all the meat you need.  I don't like deep fried turkey but then I don't like turkey.  I have a huge crock pot that I fix my hams in and they are really good.  Just throw some honey in with it and let it go.  If it gets brown not a big deal cause it is so tender about 4 hours on high and a couple on low.  My favorite side is the sweet tater casserole I fix but Gary's family thinks it should be a dessert.   :blob10:  I love it.

So everyone is planning on coming to Kansas and visiting with me right?   ???

With the words Sweet Tator Casserol heck yeah I'm coming!  That ham sounds wonderful!  Matts family fixes theres with coke, it's pretty good that way.  But I bet it's extra good with the honey!!!  We went the the grocery last night and picked up out stuff to make.  Somehow I got stuck not having to cook.  Wich isn't all that bad, but I wanted to make green bean casserole!  LOL!  OH well!  Cranberry relish for me it is!

Like I said on Vals topic my sorry butt attempted cooking.  Not a real good thing gotta have the button was not a button to be seen.  My sisiter came in and took over so not much harm was done.  However I was supposed to make a stuffing my mom got out of a magazine....what exactly is folding and how do you fold oranges pieces into bread crumbs??? I took the can dumped it on top got a spoon and stirred figured that would do except I guess I was suppose to drain the juicey stuff oh well.  Then my dad decided he could not find the thyme?? but he had a bottle of  Emeril the chef guys Bamm stuff so he put a bunch of that in the stuffing.  Well it was pretty good except it packed one heck of a punch....No food flew at the table this year so that was a little boring but what the heck mom was sick so she did not find it necessary to keep dad in line.

By the way I told you guys they bought a new bar right?  They did its called the Passtime and let me tell you it is a major hill billy red neck logger good ol boy place.  It has a Moose head numerous elk and deer heads a thing that looks like a rabbit with flippin antlers and some stuffed birds all over the place.  The walls are completely covered with deer antlers like a hundred racks.  It was crazy.  Val ya should come hang it would defenantely give ya some hillbilly lessons.

The tack store I used to manage had a wild boar head on the wall and you should do to the moose head what I did to the hog.  Put some giant sunglasses on it and a cowboy hat.  It always caused a hoot  :dontknow:
